About This Spot

The upcoming 2019 season signifies the 42nd season in Nashville Sounds Baseball Club history. It's the 22nd season as a member of the 16-team Pacific Coast League, and first as the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The inaugural season of Nashville Sounds baseball was in 1978 as the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Over the last 41 years, over 1,250 players have donned a Sounds uniform and more than 750 of those players have played in the big leagues. The Sounds now play in state-of-the-art First Tennessee Park, which opened in 2015.

The park marks a return of baseball to the area where Sulphur Dell Park once stood. Sulphur Dell hosted Negro and Minor League Baseball teams from the 19th century through 1963, including a six-decade run as the home of the Southern Association's Nashville Vols.
