August 19-20: Showcasing 64 Films at Studio 615 in East Nashville.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– (August 16, 2022) – As part of Tennessee Brew Works’ ongoing philanthropic work to support the local artistic community, the brewery is partnering with the Defy Film Festival this year. The festival will take place August 19-20 and showcase over 20 different filmmakers over the two-day event. Tennessee Brew Works locally brewed craft beers will be available to enjoy as well. Tickets are currently available online at defyfilmfestival.com.

A festival by filmmakers for filmmakers, Defy has been named “Best Indie Film Festival” by the Nashville Scene and landed in the “Top 100 Best-Reviewed Festivals” on FilmFreeway. Defy is looking ahead to a new year and new possibilities for its seventh festival season. With 64 films and over 20 filmmakers visiting the festival this year to talk about their work and meet other creatives, this year promises to be the best one yet!

The Defy Film Festival is dedicated to bringing bold and extraordinary cinematic work from around the world to Nashville and celebrate unconventional films made by filmmakers who want to “defy” traditions and expectations. Defy is driven by the desire to bring unknown talent that bends genre and form to Nashville audiences that are looking for a unique cinematic experience.

“We call it Defy for a reason. The festival showcases unique filmmakers and introduces audiences to work that they won’t see anywhere else,” according to Dycee Wildman, Festival Director. “We’re always looking for submissions that are a little bit different and one-of-a-kind. We’re about something new and fresh. When you see that spark of innovation and bold intention, that’s what really turns me on about film.”

"It is our honor and responsibility to support the arts in our community,” said Christian Spears, founder and owner, Tennessee Brew Works. “Defy is a wonderful platform for rising filmmakers to showcase their creations and we are excited to be a part of the event.”

In addition to ticket offerings for individual films, Defy is offering weekend passes, including: $65 unlimited screenings, or $75 bottomless beer + unlimited screenings.

Other sponsors for the event include Pinnacle Financial Partners, Whitehardt Inc, Silent Events, Kindling Arts Festival and Eastside Bowl.
