Pickers Original Vodka Honors Local Musicians, Moon Taxi, Chris Scruggs and Guthrie Trapp with Ongoing Mural Series

Local Artist Bryan Deese Completes Two Murals in the Pickers Original Vodka Series Featuring Local Musicians.

Nashville, TN (July 28, 2021) Pickers Original Vodka, Tennessee’s first craft vodka, unveils two murals honoring Moon Taxi, Chris Scruggs and Guthrie Trapp.

The Moon Taxi mural is located on wall of Exit In at 2208 Elliston Place. Chris Scruggs and Guthrie Trapp are teamed up and featured at the Bootleggers Inn building on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Broadway. 

Pickers Vodka commisoned Nashville mural artist, Bryan Deese and launced the mural series in 2020.  Moon Taxi, Chris Schrugg and Guthrie Trapp are Deese's fourth and fifth mural to date.  Deese’s previous murals featured Sam Bush & Kendell Marvel, Alyanna Royale and Jerry Pentecost. Additional murals will be commissioned in the fall of 2021. 

The mural series highlights Pennington Distilling Company's pledge that $1 for every bottle of Pickers Original Vodka sold at Middle Tennessee bars, restaurants and venues that support live music will be donated to Music Health Alliance.  For every $1 donation, MHA is able to provide $30 in life-saving healthcare resources.

Chris Scruggs is a singer and guitarist, born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. With deep musical roots stemming from both sides of his family, Scruggs was raised hearing all types of music, but what really stuck out to him was the sound of traditional country. 

At age 11 he started playing the guitar and was working professionally by the time he had reached 14 years. When he was 19 years old, he signed on as a member of BR549, co-fronting the band with Chuck Mead from 2002 until 2005, when Chris left the group to embark on a solo career. Scruggs is known for his masterful playing of the steel guitar without pedals.

Scruggs has recorded and performed with a wide range of artists across multiple genres, including Emmylou Harris, Jim Lauderdale, Rodney Crowell, Loretta Lynn, Kacey Musgraves, Justin Townes Earle, Connie Smith, Hank Williams III, Amanda Shires, Andrew Bird, Zooey Deschanel, Michael Nesmith, Chris Cornell, Suzy Bogguss, and Marty Stuart. 

Scruggs is currently the bassist for Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives and he also hosts a live radio show once a week on 650 AM WSM called “Friends and Neighbors,” featuring Chris and his all star band The Stone Fox Five, which airs directly after the Friday Night Opry on country music’s most famous radio station.


Guthrie Trapp is one of Nashville’s preeminent guitar talents. Trapp is at home with all styles of music and is a naturally soulful and energetic player. He shines as a solo artist, session and touring musician as well as a top educator in the guitar world.
