May 25, 2021 – The Neighborhood Dining Group is thrilled to announce Ben Norton as the new Executive Chef of Husk Nashville, beginning this June. A longtime employee of the restaurant group and former Executive Chef of highly acclaimed McCrady’s in Charleston, SC, Norton will bring his culinary expertise and knowledge of regional ingredients to the Southern-focused kitchen. He will be accompanied by Chef de Cuisine Bryan O’Kelly, who currently serves as Sous Chef of Husk Savannah. The two chefs, who both started at McCrady’s in 2015, have a combined 10 years of experience with NDG and have worked closely together for more than five years.
President David Howard says, “We’re fortunate to have such great talent within our NDG family and couldn’t be more excited to have Ben and Bryan leading the kitchen at Husk Nashville. We are confident they’ll bring new excitement and creativity to the menu, while maintaining our standards and commitment to local ingredients and the Nashville community.”
Norton, an Atlanta native who worked under award-winning chefs like Linton Hopkins at Restaurant Eugene, will continue Husk’s dedication to elevating Southern cuisine. He’ll continue to work closely with local farmers and artisans to source ingredients in addition to utilizing the bountiful on-site restaurant garden.
“The Husk approach to cooking is something I grew up with; my family had gardens we ate from all summer, and my grandmother made a pan of cornbread for dinner every night. That’s true Southern food to me. No one does that kind of cooking better than Husk, and there’s no better place to be part of the South’s food scene than Nashville,” says Norton.
Current Executive Chef Katie Coss will continue running the kitchen through early June. “We’re grateful for Katie’s nearly 10-year tenure at NDG and have the utmost gratitude for her leadership and dedication to our restaurants. It’s been great to provide growth opportunities to Katie who started as a line cook in Charleston many years ago, and we wish her nothing but the best in her next adventure,” says Howard.
