NASHVILLE, Tenn (April 16, 2021) – The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix announced today that the spectacle of Vintage Indy™ has been added to the inaugural NTT INDYCAR® SERIES weekend winding through the streets of downtown Nashville, TN August 6-8. It will feature a fan friendly Vintage Indy™ Paddock and on track lapping sessions for the historic cars on Sunday race day. Two-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser Jr. will lead the field behind the wheel of the Miles Ahead MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop Vintage Indy™ pace car. Big Machine Music City Grand Prix fans can expect the unique experience of seeing and hearing Indy history come to life with the Indianapolis record breaking 1972 Dan Gurney Racing AAR Olsonite Eagle of Bobby Unser, the famed 1968 STP Turbine, the USAC Championship winning Vel's Parnelli Jones Racing Samsonite Special, classic front engine roadsters and more.

The addition of Vintage Indy to the inaugural weekend will give many fans their first glimpse of the sport’s long and colorful history. Vintage Indy is dedicated to the history and preservation of Indy cars from 1911 to 1997. Every car has been lovingly and meticulously restored. Many times, these cars were your classic “barn finds,” mere dusty shells of their former selves, missing lots of pieces and parts. It takes lots of time, money, skill, research and patience to properly put an Indy car back together but it’s worth the effort. Of course, each one comes with a briefcase full of interesting facts and anecdotes.

“The members of Vintage Indy, myself and our fans are beyond excited to be participating in the inaugural Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, which undoubtedly is destined to be a fantastic weekend for Nashville and the NTT INDYCAR Series”, said Michael Lashmett, President of Vintage Indy.
