Surprise Additional Round of Performers for Americanafest 2019 Announced

The Americana Music Association® announced today an additional 56 showcasing acts that round out a lineup of over 300 artists and bands playing the 20th annual AMERICANAFEST, which is now less than two weeks away on September 10-15 in Nashville, TN.

(Aug. 29, 2019) - The Americana Music Association® announced today an additional 56 showcasing acts that round out a lineup of over 300 artists and bands playing the 20th annual AMERICANAFEST, which is now less than two weeks away on September 10-15 in Nashville, TN. The music festival and conference will also host several musical events, including a showcase celebrating ANTI- Records' 20th anniversary; Kirby Brown's in-the-round songwriter session; Paul Cauthen's Big Velvet Revue; Erin Rae's tribute to the music of The Carpenters and more; a showcase jam with The Travelin' McCourys and friends; plus, a tribute to the music of 1969. On the evening of Wednesday, September 11, Paul Cauthen will once again be bringing his Big Velvet Revue to The Basement East. Curated and emceed by the outlaw revivalist, this official dirt-kicking event will feature performances by Cauthen, Jason BolandJack IngramAubrie SellersChris ShiflettQuaker City Night HawksJaime Wyatt and more.

ANTI- Records will be celebrating their 20th anniversary at the Mercy Lounge with an official showcase on Thursday night, September 12, highlighting their groundbreaking roster with performances by Darrin Bradbury, The Frothy Pit (Wynonna Judd and Cass McCombs)Jeremy Ivey, Son Little and Christopher Paul Stelling.

The following day on Friday, September 13, Kirby Brown will host "WRIXLAN, AMERICANA: An Exchange of Story and Song," an artist-centric in-the-round session where the singer-songwriter gathers other musicians from the Americana music community. This AMERICANAFEST edition at City Winery Lounge includes Brown, Andrew CombsDawn Landes and Caroline Spence as they share their own inspirations and how the art of storytelling informs their songwriting.

That same Friday night, Americana musicians from the community will salute the music of 1969 with a unique event at The Basement East. The year that brought about man's first landing on the moon catapulted America into the next decade. Emblematic acts of this time like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin had a lot to say as they created the soundtrack for this period of change. These pivotal musicians and their works will be honored by Nikki LaneEd Jurdi (The Band of Heathens), Bobby Rush - who will be performing his own classic from '69 - and more. Whiskey Wolves of the West will be hosting while a stellar house band led by the group's own Chase McGillis backs the evening's performers.

Erin Rae invites festival-goers to The 5 Spot on Saturday evening, September 14, as she presents a musical tribute to The Carpenters, Glen Campbell, The Monkees and more. Inspired by the bubbly world of the Lawrence Welk Variety Show, Rae and bandleader Jordan Lehninghave curated a selection of tunes to be performed by Combs, Joshua Hedley, Logan LedgerCaitlin Rose and more.

Also on Saturday night, The Travelin' McCourys are set to take over the Cannery Ballroom, treating attendees to a musical jam with their Nashville friends the Gibson BrothersDella MaeJacob Jolliff and more surprise guests.  

2019 Festival Wristbands are currently on sale to the public at the wallet-friendly price of $90. Available for purchase here, Festival Wristbands allow admission into all evening showcase venues and select sanctioned special events.

Conference Registrations (currently on-sale at the standard rate of $449/$349 for Americana Music Association members) can be purchased here and offer priority admission into all showcase venues, sanctioned events and daytime educational panels. On September 2, these premier passes will increase in price to the walk-up rate of $499.

Paul Cauthen will be bringing his Big Velvet Revue back to The Basement East during AMERICANAFEST. In case you’ve missed it in the past, the Big Velvet Revue has showcased some incredible talent from Shakey Graves, Rayland Baxter, Colter Wall, Aaron Lee Tasjan and more! This year’s event will bring the same style of curation and excitement, featuring a variety of performances from across the country with Cauthen as the Master of Ceremonies. You’ll be treated to an evening full of rock 'n' roll, Americana, and special surprise guests. This was the party to be at last year, so don’t miss it!

Wrixlan (rix*luhn), Old English: to exchange, barter, reciprocate. For the inaugural installment of his in-the-round series “WRIXLAN,” Kirby Brown assembles several preeminent writer-artists from the Americana music world. They will share their songs, first and foremost, but in an open format — with room to explore their inspirations, their own histories, and how being in a storytelling genre has informed the music they make. With Caroline SpenceAndrew Combs, and Dawn Landes.

Friday, Sept. 13
To the Moon and Beyond: A Tribute to 1969

The sky was no longer the limit in 1969. From man’s first landing on the moon to the birth of what would become the Internet, this significant year of change catapulted America into the next decade. Seismic political and cultural shifts resulted as a culmination of many tumultuous events, such as the Charles Manson murders, the Stonewall riots igniting the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights and nearly 400,000 rock ’n’ roll music fans congregating at Woodstock. With the ‘70s just around the corner, artists from this time maintained a progressive mind and an open heart with their music. Whiskey Wolves of the West will be taking the reins as the evening's house band as Americana musicians from the community salute emblematic artists of this time, who might include Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, The Isley Brothers, and Simon & Garfunkel.

We've Only Just Begun: A Tribute to the Music of The Carpenters & More

Wonderful, wonderful! Erin Rae presents a tribute to the music of The Carpenters, Glen Campbell, Judee Sill, Jim Croce, The Monkees, Bread, Scott Walker, Doris Day, and more. Inspired by the effervescent and pastel-clad Lawrence Welk Variety Show, Erin Rae and bandleader Jordan Lehning organize a collection of songs performed by the likes of Caitlin RoseAndrew CombsLogan LedgerNatalie PrassAdia VictoriaJoshua HedleyEmily West, and many, many more.
