On October 23 and 24, Rudy's Jazz Room will set the stage for two nights of music intended not simply to be heard, but preserved. The Ryan Devlin Quartet — featuring Ryan Devlin on saxophone, Marc Payne on piano, Ian Ashby on bass, and Caleb Montague on drums — will be recorded live before an audience for an upcoming full-length album, capturing the immediacy, spontaneity, and shared energy that have always made the live jazz recording something distinct from the studio.

Microphones throughout the room will document more than the musicians on stage. They will capture the applause, the reactions, the silences, and the atmosphere of Rudy's itself—the sound of a room listening closely. For those in attendance, these performances offer a rare opportunity to be present at the creation of a record and, quite literally, to become part of its sound—helping preserve two nights of music as they happened, long after the final note has faded.

Ryan Devlin is a 26 year old saxophonist and private woodwind instructor living in Boston, MA. Ryan started his musical journey with his father Scott Devlin who was the leader of the Walt Disney World Sax Quartet. Music was always in the house when Ryan was a child. Since then Ryan has been practicing, gigging and teaching everyday!
