Social Responsibility Opportunities
Thank you for considering donating time, funds, or supplies to the Nashville community.
Looking for a meaningful way to immerse your group in the local culture? Channel the Volunteer State’s spirit of giving with hands-on opportunities at area nonprofits. With a deep roster of organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life in Nashville and beyond, there are plenty of choices when it comes to finding the perfect fit – whether you’re looking to align with your group’s field of expertise, philanthropic mission, or desire to address a specific need. Not only is voluntarism a great way to build community among your attendees, but it also creates a lasting impact for your Music City meeting.
If considering a hands-on outing, please get in touch with the chosen charity in advance to ensure the organization is prepared to put your willing hands to work. Nonprofits may have age requirements for service, and some women’s and children’s organizations may require background checks for volunteers who work in direct contact with them.
Lend a Hand
Many organizations welcome groups for hands-on help with their mission. Participate in a Habitat for Humanity build, prepare food donations at Second Harvest Food Bank, or sort and package supplies for the Nashville Diaper Connection to keep little ones dry, healthy, and happy.
Nashville Rescue Mission and Room In The Inn always need groups to help serve meals at their downtown facilities. Both serve the unhoused community in Nashville and the surrounding areas.
To join the fight against hunger, consider volunteering with The Store. Started by country superstar Brad Paisley and actress Kimberly Williams Paisley, The Store is different from traditional food pantries in that shoppers select their own groceries from a choice of fresh produce, meat, dairy, and other healthy choices.
Take a break from meetings and enjoy the fresh air with Corporate Clean Up Days at Nashville Parks. The Centennial Park Conservancy can curate an exclusive experience for your team through its Good Neighbor program, which includes a cleanup at the city’s iconic Centennial Park, a reserved lunch space, and a photographer to capture the day. Cap off the experience with a visit to Nashville’s oldest art museum, The Parthenon, for a dose of history and culture. Warner Parks also offers Corporate Community Days for groups to help with tree planting, trail maintenance, and litter clean-up.
Hands On Nashville focuses on connecting volunteers with community projects. Create a team online, browse their nearly 200 partner organizations for volunteer opportunities, or scroll through the online calendar to view posted needs on specific dates. Hands On Nashville can also create programs for your group to take to the Music City Center or wherever you are meeting.
Giving & Donations
You don’t have to leave your meeting site to make a difference. Donations are always appreciated, from children’s reading materials for Book’em to school supplies for PENCIL. And, of course, monetary donations go a long way toward meeting any organization’s most pressing needs. Consider hosting an on-site donation drive. The global nonprofit Soles4Souls, headquartered in Nashville, welcomes donations of clothing and shoes. Another option is to collect new toys, stuffed animals, and activity books for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. On-site activations offer a fun way to shop for a cause. Strings for Hope upcycles secondhand musical strings into jewelry, and Thistle Farms sells beautiful candles, body care products, and more. Both survivor-led organizations work to end abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking
Keep the Music Playing
In Nashville, it’s no surprise that multiple nonprofits focus on music and the artists who make it. Learn more about the work being done by Instruments for Education, MusiCares, Instruments of Joy, Music Health Alliance, Musicians on Call, Sing Me a Story, Save the Music Foundation, SongwritingWith: Soldiers, and the W.O. Smith Music School to see how your support keeps the music playing.
