Woolworth Theatre Announces Conversations on Civil Rights, Culture & Community

Nashville, TN – Woolworth Theatre is proud to announce Beyond the Counter: Conversations on Civil Rights, Culture, and Community, a monthly residency that transforms one of Nashville's significant historic landmarks into a space for dialogue, education, and reflection.

The Woolworth, once the site of the 1960’s lunch counter sit-ins, will feature a series of educational conversations centered around the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement with rotating historians, educators, and community leaders. Each panel will be moderated by Elliott Robinson, from the Civil Rights Room at the Nashville Public Library. The inaugural season includes four conversations highlighting defining moments and voices from Nashville's Civil Rights story:

Wednesday, September 23, 2026: The Lunch Counter Sit-Ins with the Civil Rights Room
Wednesday, October 21, 2026: Sounds of Freedom with Jefferson Street Sound Museum
Wednesday, January 27, 2027: Glory & Gospel with The Museum of Christian & Gospel Music
Wednesday, February 24, 2027: Nashville's Student Leaders
