Three Local Businesses to Open in Wedgewood Houston: Bell Bird Books, Bower, and Culture Club

AJ Capital Partners continues Wedgewood Houston leasing momentum with the addition of three all-new retail concepts set to launch in spring 2026.

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Nashville-based real estate and hospitality firm AJ Capital Partners (“AJ Capital”) today announced it will welcome three small, locally owned businesses to Wedgewood Houston: neighborhood bookstore Bell Bird Books, design-forward nail salon Bower, and frozen Greek yogurt café Culture Club. All three retail concepts will debut in spring 2026 on the ground floor of a 170,000-square-foot building on Martin Street as part of AJ Capital’s Wedgewood Village development—its 18-acre mixed-use and multi-phase project in Wedgewood Houston.

Bell Bird Books has signed a lease for a 1,020-square-foot retail space at 1208 Martin Street. The neighborhood independent bookstore, founded by Mary Ann Weprin, will feature an eclectic mix of literary titles across genres alongside a handpicked selection of specialty items, including stationery and writing supplies.

Bower, a design-forward nail salon rooted in quality, service, and community, will occupy 1,693 square feet at 1214 Martin Street. Introducing a refined, luxury nail experience to the heart of the neighborhood, Bower is co-founded by Wedgewood Houston residents Andrea Fishkin and Amanda Soeder Gleaton who bring their combined experience in luxury fashion, high-end real estate, and mutual love for interiors and wellness to the salon. Bower, which by definition refers to a private retreat evoking restoration, connection, and quiet indulgence, will focus exclusively on manicure and pedicure services. Bower will offer a curated, streamlined menu centered on consistency, wellness, and craft using clean, non-toxic polishes, eco-considerate tools, and elevated rituals that prioritize nail health.

Culture Club is slated to open its 974-square-foot frozen Greek yogurt concept at 1212 Martin Street. Founded by brothers Bear and PJ Kaminer, Culture Club is Nashville’s first frozen Greek yogurt café, pairing premium Greek yogurt and chef-inspired toppings for everyday indulgence. Culture Club will offer signature and seasonal flavors developed in-house using propriety recipes and all-natural, high-quality ingredients. James Beard Award semifinalist pastry chef Noelle Marchetti, most recently at The Joseph and Yolan, will oversee Culture Club’s toppings bar. Culture Club will partner with local businesses for unique toppings bar collaborations—including bakery and restaurant Perenn, which recently announced its new concept just steps away in the same Martin Street development.

“Our goal is to thoughtfully curate a mix of local and national businesses that both reflect our community and fill key neighborhood needs,” said Kyle Allen, AJ Capital Senior Vice President of Retail. “The addition of Bell Bird Books, Bower, and Culture Club reflects that intentionality by pairing visionary local concepts with world-class fashion, dining, and hospitality to further solidify Wedgewood Village as one of Nashville’s most dynamic destinations.”

Previously announced Perenn Grocery will join Bell Bird Books, Bower, and Culture Club to complete the retail lineup at AJ Capital’s mixed-use development along Martin Street, establishing the block as a hub for small, locally owned businesses. Perenn, an all-day café, bakery, and bistro known for its house-made breads and pastries, will unveil its new concept, Perenn Grocery, in summer 2026. In partnership with local farms and butchers, Perenn Grocery’s thoughtful market experience introduces the neighborhood’s first grocery destination.

The new tenants will be located within a 170,000-square-foot, four-story building across the street from the historic May Hosiery Mills and steps from Soho House Nashville, Pastis, and Hermès in Wedgewood Village, AJ Capital’s 18-acre mixed-use development. The new building will also be home to two James Beard-recognized restaurants, Momotaro and Alla Vita, from the esteemed Boka Restaurant Group. Additionally, AJ Capital’s latest Memoir Residential portfolio addition, Memoir May Hosiery, will occupy the building’s top three floors and feature 109 residential units. Surrounded by a vibrant mix of retail, dining, and culture, the new businesses further contribute to Wedgewood Village’s growth and continued evolution into a full-service neighborhood.
