Nashville Symphony To Host Spirits Of Summer On August 14

Local mixologists design cocktails inspired by classical favorites at Ancient Greek-themed fundraiser to support the Symphony’s mission and outreach programs; Tickets on sale now.

Nashville, TN. — The Nashville Symphony’s popular cocktails-and-classical-music fundraiser, Spirits of Summer, returns to Schermerhorn Symphony Center for an eighth year on August 14. Titled “ Mythos and Melodies” and presented in partnership with the Crescendo Club, Spirits of Summer will transport guests to Ancient Greece as local mixologists compete to craft custom cocktails inspired by classical music favorites.

At the mythology-inspired event, four participating mixologists will create one-of-a-kind cocktails inspired by a piece of classical music. Guests will hear from the bartenders about the musical inspiration behind each recipe; sample the featured drinks while listening to Nashville Symphony musicians perform the pieces; and then vote for their favorite pairing. The winner is announced from the stage at the end of the evening.

“Spirits of Summer is one of the most creative and delicious cocktail parties of the year,” said event co-chairs Jasmine Greer, Valentina Guidi and Alex Payton. “With our Mythos & Melodies theme, we’re celebrating the epic stories and timeless sounds that continue to inspire artists of every kind. On-theme attire is encouraged, so channel your inner heroes and goddesses and join us for an Athenian evening in support of our beloved Nashville Symphony!”

Participating mixologists include:

  • Cal Caplan from Modern Love at Fairlane Hotel
  • Josh Lindsey from Soho House
  • Jordan Spaulding from Love's Alibi
  • Hunter Thammavongsa from Demure Cocktail Lounge

The evening begins at 6 p.m. for VIP ticketholders with an exclusive pre-event cocktail party that includes a guided Greek wine tasting, living statues, a harpist performance, and more. General admission guests are welcomed at 7:30 p.m. for the cocktail competition and concert.

The event also includes a curated silent auction of exciting gift items and packages, including VIP shopping experiences, luxury car rentals, custom portraits, hotel and vacation home stays, a guitar signed by country music legend Vince Gill, and more.

Crescendo Club is the Nashville Symphony’s young professionals organization dedicated to supporting the Symphony’s mission to inspire and engage through live music, education and community programs, and to building the next generation of music lovers.

Early bird tickets are on sale now via the Nashville Symphony website for general admission ($100) and VIP tickets ($200). On August 1, early bird pricing ends and tickets will be $150 for general admission and $250 for VIP tickets. The event is standing-room, but a $25 upgrade is available for both ticket levels that includes a reserved seating area in the rear orchestra.
