Adventure Science Center Invites Families to "Spring into Science," Sponsored by Kroger

Seasonal hands-on activities, Spring Break Camp, new exhibit opening, and laser shows fill the month.

Nashville, TN -- Adventure Science Center is welcoming spring with a month-long celebration of discovery through its March theme, Spring into Science, sponsored by Kroger. Throughout the facility, visitors can take part in hands-on floor activities that blend creativity, chemistry, biology, and friendly competition—making science approachable and fun for all ages.

March floor activities include:

  • Leaf Relief Art
    Guests will explore leaf structures by creating crayon rubbings over raised leaf plates using a technique known as relief art.
  • Gold Doubloons
    Through a series of chemical reactions, guests will transform copper pennies into shiny “gold” coins.
  • Butterfly Chromatography
    Visitors will observe capillary action as water spreads ink from markers across coffee filters, revealing hidden colors.
  • Basketball Ball and Cup Craft
    In celebration of March Madness, visitors will create a basketball-themed ball-and-cup toy and test their skills.

Makerspace activities include:

  • River Life Origami - March 7-8
    Celebrate our new 'Tennessee Rivers' exhibit by hand-folding your own river creatures.
  • Clay Seed Bombs - March 14-15 & 21-22
    Craft a native wildflower seed bomb to attract Tennessee pollinators.
  • Paint a Pollinator: Painting Using Symmetry - March 28-29
    Recreate the bold patterns of our native pollinators in paint!

In addition to the month-long theme activities, Adventure Science Center will host several special events in March:

  • Tennessee Rivers Exhibit – Grand OpeningWednesday, March 4
    Celebrate the opening of a new exhibit highlighting the science, ecosystems, and importance of Tennessee’s rivers and waterways.
  • Dark Side of the Moon Laser Show – Sudekum PlanetariumSaturday, March 7
    A stunning fusion of Pink Floyd’s iconic album with immersive laser visuals.
  • Spring Break Camp: “Kaboom: Chemistry”Monday, March 9 – Friday, March 13
    Campers will dive into the exciting world of chemical reactions through hands-on experiments and explosive discoveries that showcase the power and possibilities of chemistry.
  • Laser Prince – Sudekum PlanetariumSaturday, March 21
    Experience Prince’s legendary music paired with dynamic laser effects in the planetarium.
  • Kroger Day of ServiceThursday, March 26
    Guests will build mini DIY greenhouses and pollinator seed bombs to promote pollinator health while learning about sustainable food practices with volunteers from Kroger's 'Zero Hunger | Zero Waste' initiative.
