Locally Owned Pooky Jane’s Kitchen & Pub Opens in Old Hickory, TN
The restaurant and sports bar features 23 TVs, pool tables, games, live music, happy hour specials, and more.
NASHVILLE, TN — A beloved local couple has brought new life to a storied Old Hickory space with the opening of Pooky Jane’s Kitchen & Pub, now officially welcoming guests just outside of Nashville.
Located in the historic building that once housed The Double E Bar & Grill as well as Tilly & Lucy’s — where country star Trace Adkins got his start — Pooky Jane’s is the brainchild of Nashville natives and childhood sweethearts Tim and Angie Halterman. The name itself is a tribute to Angie’s childhood nickname, given by Tim back when they were in middle school.
“We wanted to create a place that feels like home for everyone,” says Tim Halterman, who brings decades of restaurant and hospitality experience from local institutions like The Cooker Restaurant, J. Alexander’s Restaurant, The Pharmacy Burger Parlor, Cledis Burgers, Levy Restaurant’s Premium Suites in Bridgestone Arena, and more. “It’s all about great food, great people, and great energy.”
Open for lunch and dinner, Pooky Jane’s keeps its focus on classic pub fare, made from scratch. The menu offers something for everyone — smash burgers, hand-breaded chicken tenders, wings, hearty sandwiches, and fresh salads. Every item reflects the Haltermans’ commitment to quality and their love for real, unfussy food done well.
While the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming to families, the pub also caters to adults looking to relax with friends. The bar features eight draft taps, which regularly spotlight local breweries, a small wine list, Bushwackers, familiar domestic beers, and a full bar.
“We like to say we are kitchen and pub, with an equivalent love for sports and music — this isn’t just another bar,” says Angie Halterman. “We wanted our place to feel fun but also safe, especially for women. We’ve worked hard to make it warm, friendly, and community focused.”
Entertainment for Everyone, Every Night
With 23 TVs, Pooky Jane’s is a go-to destination for NFL Sunday Ticket, college football Saturdays, and Titans and UT games - always with the sound on. But it’s also more than just a sports hub.
The space includes pool tables, games and a live performance stage with professional sound. Weekly events keep the energy high:
- Tuesdays: The GetUp – a local singer-songwriter showcase featuring multiple independent artists in a writers’ round format. (Plus 2-for-1 bar drinks all day!)
- Wednesdays: Open Mic Night hosted by Jeff Williams
- Thursdays: NFL Football
- Fridays: Fan-favorite Karaoke
- Saturdays: College football during the day and live music at night
- Sundays: NFL Sunday Ticket to watch every team, always with audio
- Happy Hour: Wednesday to Friday, 3 to 7 p.m. ($1 off beer, wine, and well drinks)
Locally Rooted, Family-Focused
With seating for over 150 guests, Pooky Jane’s has a lively layout — pool and games on one side, dining on the other, and a central horseshoe bar that seats 30+. It’s a place where everyone feels at home, from neighborhood families celebrating a birthday to groups of friends watching the big game.
Tim and Angie’s deep Nashville roots are reflected throughout the business. Both grew up locally — Tim graduating from McGavock High School, along with two of their children (2020,2022), and the youngest from Lipscomb Academy just across town (2025). Family members all play roles in business, even their parents, who have been musicians and lend inspiration to the pub’s authentic vibe. In keeping with the family's enthusiasm for sports, Tim and Angie's oldest daughter is a recent Alumna of the Belmont University Bruins Softball Program while their son is a professional baseball player for the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
“There just hasn’t been a place like this in the area — something young, fun, and still comfortable for every generation,” says Angie. “The community response has been amazing. We’ve heard people say, ‘It’s exactly what Old Hickory needed.’ That means everything to us.”
