Lane Motor Museum is proud to announce the opening of a major new exhibit. The exhibit, Redefining Remnants: The Art of Parts, highlights the incredible art form created by Edwin Lockridge and will feature several vehicles from the museum’s collection to complement Mr. Lockridge’s creativity in a unique way. The exhibit opens on February 8, 2024, and runs through February 10, 2025.
Whether out of necessity, creativity, or passion, humans can find ways to make something out of what others deem junk. Introducing the automobile to the world left us with many damaged and discarded pieces and parts of one of the most significant technologies to ever change our world. This exhibition explores the life of these pieces and parts after they are left behind from their original purpose. Whether these parts become entwined in a new hand-built vehicle or a work of art that expresses one's inner self, they continue with a new life purpose.
Derek E. Moore, Curator of Collections at Lane Motor Museum, worked closely with Lockridge to curate the exhibit and explains the story behind it this way, “After a chance meeting with Edwin and viewing some of his art, I began connecting stories of vehicles in the museum’s collection to how Edwin creates his artwork. Utilizing remnants from wrecked automobiles, Edwin creates impactful pieces that tell a story, whereas the vehicles in this exhibit tell the stories of people who created automobiles from remnants from other vehicles. It is fascinating that these pieces, both the art and vehicles, were all born from discarded parts. To keep my own creative inspiration up for this exhibition, I hung one of Edwin’s works in my office.”
Edwin Lockridge has this to say about his first fully-featured museum exhibition, “It’s not about the art. It’s not about the cars. It’s about the feeling of family when I walk through these doors. To see my work hanging on the walls of a museum brings me great pride and joy!”

The mission of Lane Motor Museum shall be to collect, preserve, document, and interpret an eclectic and technically interesting collection of cars and other transportation-related objects to educate the public about the history of transportation.
Lane Motor Museum is one of the few museums in the U.S. specializing in European cars. It is a working museum with the goal of maintaining all vehicles in running order. Some cars are in showroom condition, while others represent typical aging.
The Museum has been developed in a well-known Nashville landmark, the former Sunbeam Bakery at 702 Murfreesboro Pike.
