Department Summary:
The Social Media Coordinator at the Nashville CVC is responsible for supporting the design, execution, and management of the social media strategy across 945k+ followers for @VisitMusicCity’s Instagram, Tik Tok, X, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube profiles. The NCVC’s SMC should have a solid understanding of each social media channel, and have experience in trend tracking, copywriting, creating compelling video content, and measuring the success of social media campaigns. The Social Media Coordinator will report to the Senior Social Media Manager and work closely with the entire marketing department to optimize content so that it amplifies our brand, is engaging, and increases follower growth, audience engagement, and website traffic.
Responsibilities:
- Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
- Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (original text, images, video, or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and stewards the Music City brand.
- Create engaging and shareable content, including text posts, images, short and long-form videos, and infographics, that align with our brand voice and resonate with our target audience.
- Frequently attend events outside office hours as needed, nights and weekends included, to produce live social media content.
- Support the creation and management of a strategic content calendar across social channels informed by trends and platform data.
- Effectively collaborate with internal teams (PR, Sales, Digital, Paid Media, Promotions, Events, Creative) and NCVC members to effectively market Nashville.
- Monitor user engagement & respond to comments, messages, and inquiries on each platform in a timely and professional manner, to foster relationships with fanbase.
- Constantly research and identify local and national trends to establish viral and data-driven growth tactics and content.
- Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications.
- Analyze social media performance using analytics tools to track key metrics, identify trends, and optimize content for better engagement and reach.
- Must work NCVC events including New Year’s Eve and July 4th
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of Nashville is a must.
- Solid understanding of social media platforms, their functionalities, and best practices for organic content.
- Fully immersed in social media tools, including audio, memes, text overlay, and other visual components.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong creative thinking, creative eye, and content creation abilities.
- Proven working experience with social media, marketing, and/or communications role.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team setting.
- Familiarity with social media management and analytics platforms. A plus if you’ve worked with Sprout Social.
- Can-do attitude, willing to go the extra mile to “get the shot”.
Qualifications:
- Education - Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience - Minimum 1 year of relevant experience through internships, part-time roles, or academic projects in marketing, social media, digital content, or related areas.
