Southern Festival of Books: A Celebration of the Written Word
War Memorial Plaza
Free and open to the public
Oh to escape into the wonderful world of books. Over the years, we each grow a deep passion for the authors behind our favorite stories who seem to know us without any introduction. The Southern Festival of Books: A Celebration of the Written World offers the opportunity to meet some of your favorite storytellers with 3 days of readings, panel discussions, and book signings at War Memorial Plaza.
Below are the details on the 2017 event. Stay tuned for details on next year's event. It typically occurs in October of each year.
Some of the authors include Olivia Clare, Peter Cooper, Jennifer Egan, Radney Foster, Andrew Farah, James Grymes, Richard Lyons, Lisa Maxwell, Liza Mundy, Lydia Peelle, Martin Seay, Michael Sims, and tons more. See the full list.
Children's and young adult authors
The children's and young adult programs at the Festival are great opportunities for librarians, educators, and parents to seek and find the newest releases in all genres, old favorites, and hot discussion topics. All ages will find something they love at the Southern Festival of Books. Learn more about this year's programs.
Authors in the Round Dinner
Up to 40 authors will sit down with fans for a nice dinner during the 10th Annual Authors in the Round Dinner on October 13. The evening begins with cocktails under the stars in the courtyard of War Memorial Auditorium, followed by dinner where each table is paired with a different author and a copy of their book for guests to take home. A portion of each ticket purchase is tax-deductible and all proceeds benefit the Southern Festival of Books. Find information on tickets.
