Enslaved Memorial Commemoration
Join us at The Hermitage at 9:00 A.M. for our Annual Enslaved Memorial Ceremony, honoring the lives and legacies of the enslaved individuals who lived and labored on this historic property.
The ceremony will include:
- Keynote address
- Performance by the Andrew Jackson Elementary School Choir
- Roll call of the names of the enslaved
- Flower-laying at The Hermitage's enslaved memorial site
Throughout the day, visitors will also have the opportunity to:
- Attend a curator talk at the enslaved cemetery
- Learn about the enslaved lives at The Hermitage
- Reflect on their experiences with Hermitage staff
- Experience a living history program featuring Frederick Douglass
