Born in Toronto, Canada to Armenian immigrant parents, David Ian (aka Dave Ghazarian) came early to music, beginning classical piano study at age five. As a teenager, he began to passionately pursue electric guitar where garage bands and rock music became his mainstay throughout his adolescent years. His early Jazz influence and guidance came from Pat Pace in Akron, Ohio where he also studied with various private classical instructors from the University of Akron.

After graduating college from The Ohio State University, he moved to Chicago where he became guitarist and co-founding member of the rock band Superchick, which earned a Grammy nomination in 2009. He spent 20 years as a touring guitarist with Superchick and other Grammy Award winning artists including Rebecca St. James, Peter Furler, and Audio Adrenaline.

David Ian has released a series of "Vintage Christmas" albums starting in 2011 with notable inspiration from Vince Guaraldi and Bill Evans.

In the spirit of these recordings and his unique collision of musical endeavors, he brings his influences to a live set of Standards largely from the Great American Songbook with his piano trio.
