Kurdish Culture & Music Association Celebrates Third Anniversary with a Special Performance Featuring Nashville Symphony Musicians
The public is invited to celebrate a historic night of music, culture, and community on Sunday, June 28, at Plaza Mariachi.
Nashville, TN -- Kurdish Culture & Music Association (KCMA) is honored to present a historic collaboration with the Nashville Symphony as Middle Tennessee’s first-ever Kurdish cultural organization celebrates its third anniversary with its biggest event yet. This special evening on Sunday, June 28, brings together the power and elegance of one of Tennessee’s most respected musical institutions with the rich cultural traditions of the Kurdish community. Through music, rhythm, and shared artistic expression, KCMA will build a bridge between cultures and create memories that will last for years to come.
The musicians and artists of KCMA are also proud to share the stage with outstanding local artists whose dedication, talent, and passion continue to enrich Nashville’s vibrant cultural landscape. In addition to musicians from the Nashville Symphony, this celebration will also feature Armenian American cellist Hannah Koshgarian, the Kurdish musical group Vaveyla, Kurdish vocalist Yakup Çınar, and the KCMA Rhythm Group. Their voices, performances, and artistic contributions make this event even more meaningful, and KCMA invites the public to experience an evening where traditions meet, cultures connect, and music speaks a universal language. The musicians of KCMA will perform in traditional Kurdish attire, representing the deep and rich traditions of their culture.
The Kurdish people are the largest stateless population in the world, and Nashville is home to the largest Kurdish population in the U.S., representing more than 20,000 Kurds. Despite generations of displacement, political challenges, and efforts to suppress their language and culture, Kurdish communities have preserved a rich heritage through music, art, storytelling, and tradition. KCMA is committed to sharing this heritage while building connections across communities in Nashville and beyond. For the past three years, the organization has been sharing Kurdish culture through concerts, music classes, dance classes, language classes, and community engagement activities, including a weekly radio program.
