Calypso Cafe Reopens Charlotte Ave Location on May 14
Nashville institution of 37 years brings dine-in service back to second location.
Nashville, Tenn. – Calypso Cafe, a Nashville staple in fresh, fast casual fare since 1989, will fully reopen its second location at 3307 Charlotte Ave in West Nashville this week.
Upon its official reopening on May 14, Calypso Cafe will offer dine in service for lunch and dinner six days a week, with seating for 70 in the dining room as well as outdoor patio seating. Bar service with local draft and packaged craft beer offerings will be offered in the coming weeks.
“We’ve made some physical improvements to the space and streamlined service, which will allow our guests to enjoy the fast, fresh, and delicious experience they associate with Calypso Cafe,” said Parker. “I’m especially excited about the bar and patio seating, allowing guests to enjoy the space in different ways. We’ve had a lot of neighbors and regulars come through for takeout, and they ask often when we’ll be ready to open fully. I’m so excited that the time is here!”
The reopening has been a planned, phased process, initially announced in January 2025 when owner David Parker when he took over the family business. In recent years, the Charlotte Ave location was a prep and catering kitchen after closing to the public during the pandemic. Parker introduced takeout and delivery in August 2025 while working toward dine-in service.
Joining the Berry Hill location at 700 Thompson Lane, hours for both locations are Monday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Calypso Cafe is known for its rotisserie chicken with house Jamaican Curry and Caribbean BBQ sauces, Cuban black beans, Callaloo greens, and a host of other fresh sides, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, and desserts, all freshly made. Meals are washed down with a perfected version of Nashville’s beloved fruit tea. Calypso Cafe was founded in 1989 by Allison and Phil Brooks, set out to help Nashvillians ‘eat better, be better.’ In 2025, the brand changed hands for the first time in its nearly four decades when the Brooks’ retired and David and Sally Parker, their cousins, took over the family business. Still a local, family-owned business, Calypso Cafe operates two locations, 700 Thompson Lane and 3307 Charlotte Ave, for dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering.
