The Morgan Neville (20 FEET FROM STARDOM)-helmed Telluride hit is one of seven new additions to the 56th annual festival, alongside Nia DaCosta’s HEDDA.

Nashville, Tenn. - The Nashville Film Festival (NashFilm), a week-long celebration of film, music and culture, today announced additional titles to join the previously slated films for the highly anticipated 56th annual festival, taking place September 18-24, 2025. Of the six new presentations is the highly anticipated opening night screening “MAN ON THE RUN,” directed by Morgan Neville, exploring Paul McCartney’s life and career following The Beatles’ breakup.

MAN ON THE RUN | Directed by Morgan Neville | Starring Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney and The Beatles | Amazon MGM Studios

The opening night presentation takes viewers on an intimate journey through Paul McCartney's extraordinary life following the breakup of The Beatles and the formation of Wings with his wife, Linda. From Academy Award®-winning director Morgan Neville, the film chronicles the arc of McCartney's solo career as he faces down a myriad of challenges while creating new music to define a new decade. Through unprecedented access to previously unseen footage and rare archival materials, the documentary captures Paul’s transformative post-Beatles era through a uniquely vulnerable lens.

”MAN ON THE RUN” will screen as the opening night film at Regal Green Hills on September 18 at 6 p.m., followed by the festival’s opening night celebration at Urban Cowboy Bar in The Arcade.

“Each year, we strive to curate a lineup that captures the depth, energy and diversity of today’s most compelling stories,” said Lauren Thelen, NashFilm’s Programming Director. “From our opening night music documentary feature to bold new voices across genres, these additions reflect the creative momentum that defines the 56th Nashville Film Festival. We’re proud to present films that will move, challenge and inspire audiences.”

In addition to the full slate of programming, including over 140 films, the five newly announced titles confirmed to screen at the upcoming festival include:

ALL THAT’S LEFT OF YOU | Directed by Charien Dabis | Starring Cherien Dabis, Saleh Bakri, Adam Bakri, Mohammad Bakri, Maria Zreik and Muhammad Abed Elrahman

Dabis chronicles the lives of three generations of a Palestinian family spanning almost 75 years of history. Both epic and intimate in the same breath, expertly crafted and deeply personal, the film is reminiscent of cinema’s most enduring family sagas. Its ensemble of intricately drawn characters, intertwining lives, dreams and frictions are carefully stitched into a larger historical tapestry. In addition to writing and directing, Dabis stars alongside the incomparable Saleh Bakri. Together they portray a married couple whose beautiful relationship and shared anguish form the film’s heart and soul while also contending with Palestinian history, collective grief, anger and intergenerational trauma. ”ALL THAT’S LEFT OF YOU” will screen at the Belcourt Theater on September 24 at 12 p.m

COUNTING CROWS: HAVE YOU SEEN ME LATELY? | Directed by Amy Scott | Starring Adam Duritz, Cyndi Lauper, Steve Kerr, Chris Martin, Jeff Ross and Mary-Louise Parker

This vibrant and deeply personal documentary dives into the legacy of Counting Crows and their enigmatic lead singer Adam Duritz, not as a nostalgia play, but as a raw and revealing look at identity, artistry and the fine line between performance and reality. With unprecedented access, the film follows the band’s rise from the coffeehouses of Berkeley to headlining arenas — and the emotional turbulence that came with it. “COUNTING CROWS: HAVE YOU SEEN ME LATELY?” will screen at Regal Green Hills on September 20 at 5 p.m.

HEDDA | Directed by Nia DaCosta | Starring Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock and Nina Hoss

Hedda finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt—pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion and betrayal. “HEDDA” will screen at the Regal Green Hills on September 21 at 8:00 p.m.

MAGIC HOUR | Directed by Katie Aselton | Starring Katie Aselton, Daveed Diggs, Susan Sullivan, D.J. “Shangela” Pierce and Brad Garrett

Stitch Head does it all, unnoticed and unthanked. But when a ramshackle freak show rolls into town, its sly owner, Fulbert Freakfinder, comes knocking, offering Stitch Head fame, fortune…and maybe even love. A whimsical, heartfelt twist on the Frankenstein legend, STITCH HEAD is a comedy adventure for monsters of every age. “STITCH HEAD” will screen at the Regal Green Hills on September 20 at 10:30 a.m.

STRONGER THAN YOU THINK | Directed by Janice C. Molinari and Melissa Forman | Starring Ali Truwit
