Adventure Science Center
Adventure Science Center boasts over 175 exciting, hands on science exhibits and offers award winning STEM labs and classes taught by an expert staff of educators. Travel inside the human body, discover the magic of light and sound in the adventure tower, and explore the solar system through state-of-the-art, full-dome shows with surround sounds at ASC’s Sudekum Planetarium.
Belle Meade Plantation
You’ve heard of Seabiscuit, Secretariat, Funny Cide, Smarty Jones, and Giacomo. Now come and see where their bloodlines began! Once a world-renowned 5,400-acre Thoroughbred horse farm, Belle Meade Plantation today is a 30-acre historic site and museum. One-hour tours of the Mansion are offered daily and conducted by period costumed guides. Specific themed school group tours include Civil War at Belle Meade Plantation, Slave Life at Belle Meade Plantation, 100 Years of History, Everyday Life on the Frontier, and Everyday Life on the Plantation.
Cheekwood Estate & Gardens
Cheekwood offers a unique blend of world-class art, beautiful gardens and fascinating history, all in one place. Students and other groups can find something to fit everyone’s interest, whether it’s exploring 55 acres of diverse gardens, taking in the latest art exhibition or learning more about the founding Cheek family who built what has become one of the premier examples of an American Country Place Era Estate.
Frist Center for the Visual Arts
A world-class art center dedicated to presenting exciting and inspiring visual art, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts hosts traveling exhibitions from the U.S. and abroad, as well as develops its own exhibitions on a diverse range of themes. The Center also features an exciting interactive gallery and cafe. Admission for visitors ages 18 and under is free.
Andrew Jackson's Hermitage: Home of the People's President
Encounter, experience and explore the times, challenges and traditions that shaped our young nation at the home of America’s seventh president, Andrew Jackson. Students will experience our brand new orientation film “Born for a Storm,” exhibit, museum gallery, a guided tour of the mansion and a self-guided visit to the gardens, grounds and the president’s tomb. Groups can also participate in a number of different educational classes. Performance and meal opportunities are also available. New for 2017-18 “The Duel – Art of the Southern Gentleman” only at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. In this 30-minute long new visitor experience, guests will not only hear about the story of Jackson and his famous duel with Charles Dickinson but also defending your honor in the antebellum South. What was the process of a duel? Why did people choose to duel in the first place? All of these questions will be answered along with an ACTUAL dueling demonstration by our historic reenactors. You never know, you may get picked from the crowd to participate! Fun for all ages included with all general admission or group tickets. Join us at the home of our 7th president…..and remember, keep your friends close…and enemies closer.
The Parthenon is the world’s only full-scale replica of the classical era’s crowning achievement, located in Centennial Park. Few cities offer student groups such a visual teaching tool for igniting interest in a wide range of topics, from ancient Greek history to American paintings to Nashville’s own reputation as the “Athens of the South.” Guided tours are available for student groups and include the 42-foot-tall statue of Athena and the art galleries.
