NFL Draft, Explained

Each and every year, the NFL hosts a draft where teams can add or recruit new members to their squad. Most often, they select from the top prospects in the country.

There are seven total rounds for the NFL Draft. Each team receives one selection each round. And the order depends on the team's record from the previous year. For instance, the team with the worst record picks first followed by the team with the second-worst record, and so on until all the teams have a made a selection during a round. If a team made the playoffs, they are then ranked in reverse order of their postseason progress after the teams who did not make the playoffs. Of course, teams can make trade offers to other teams for higher draft picks, future picks, and players. This would disrupt the normal order and it happens often. See more on when the rounds will take place and the order of Round 1

Each team is given ten minutes to make their selection during the first round, seven minutes in the second round, and five minutes for each round after the second.
