Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company Announces Cast for Improv Run at TPAC

Nashville, Tenn. – The Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company announces the four improv comedians – Dan Black, Drew DiFonzo Marks, Gilli Nissim, and Jake Regal – who are bringing the UCB Theatre’s flagship touring show to Nashville for a limited engagement at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Andrew Johnson Theater on Sept. 30 – Oct. 1.
The Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company will perform at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on both Friday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 1. Tickets for the four performances are on sale now at TPAC.org, by phone at 615-782-4040, and at the TPAC Box Office, 505 Deaderick Street, in downtown Nashville.
The UCB touring show is a 90-minute, unscripted, and totally improvised comedy performance based on audience feedback and interviews. The improv stars will perform a high-energy and surprising show that has never been seen before and will never be seen again.
Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company brings the best improv comedians from the legendary Upright Citizens Brigade Theatres in New York and Los Angeles to new audiences around the country. The UCB Theatre, founded by Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh, has been home to some of the biggest stars in comedy today. UCB performers have brought their comedic talents to TV shows like “Broad City,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Silicon Valley,” “Veep,” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” to films such as “Bridesmaids,” “The Hangover,” and “The Heat.” UCB members also grace the writing rooms of “Key and Peele,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” and many more.

Dan Black is a sketch/improv comedian living in Los Angeles. He is a member of the improv team Death By Roo and can be seen performing improv every Friday night with the UCB house team, F'ed Up Family. Dan performs sketch comedy with his UCB Maude Team The Bus. Dan also can be seen performing his one man show “The Pageantry of Man” and in “ASSSSCAT 3000.” Dan has performed in sketches for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and plays the voice of Ryan Gosling on "The Pete Holmes Show." Dan recently acted in TruTV's “Adam Ruins Everything” and TLC's “Cake Boss.” He is also a comedic commentator on Fuse TV's "Video on Trial" and can be seen in commercials for AT&T, KFC, Twix, Greenpeace, and Corona. Dan frequently appears in videos for Above Average, College Humor, and Funny or Die. He also played the lead in the UCB Sketch show, “The Sit Down and Shut Up NYPD Variety Hour,” which ran for 10 months at the theatre.
Drew DiFonzo Marks is a writer, actor, and improviser in Los Angeles. He currently writes for Comedy Central digital. He has been on "Comedy Bang! Bang!,” "Funny or Die Presents," "ADHD," Comedy Central's "Reno911!," and various commercials. He is the co-creator, producer, and writer of the web-series "2Bed/1Bath" with over 700,000 views. He has been with UCB since 2003, is on the teaching faculty, and has written, directed, and performed in countless shows over the years. He is the former artistic director of UCB Los Angeles, and took a year abroad to go write/perform at the Boom Chicago comedy theatre in Amsterdam. Gilli Nissim is a writer and performer who has worked as a staff writer at Defy Media, writing for popular web shows like “Honest Trailers.” She is currently writing for Funny or Die. At UCB, she studied under Ian Roberts, Alex Fernie, Eugene Cordero, Todd Fasen, Mike Leffingwell, Will McLaughlin, and Julie Brister. She also has studied at The Westside Comedy Theater and The Groundlings. Gilli performs sketch with the UCB team Glendale and improv with wild and wonderful team Winslow. They can be seen at the show “Winslow: F*ck, Marry, Kill” at UCB Franklin weekly. Additional UCB credits include “Tournament of Nerds,” “Cagematch,” “Starpunch,” “A Night Of Bi-Partisan Comedy,” “A Clamorous Salute to St. Patty's,” “Teddy's Funk Pad,” “The UCB Thanksgiving Parade,” “Celebrity Barf Machine,” and her solo sketch show, “Burning and Yearning with Gilli Nissim.” Other UCB credits include her favorite show, “Dads and Grads,” where several UCB improvisers perform with their dads. Gilli hosts an interactive and cathartic late-night-style talk show called “We're Gross with Gilli Nissim.” Small screen credits include “Children’s Hospital,” “NTSF:SD:SUV,” “You're Whole,” and a slew of web commercials that she isn't sure how to find. She also has lent her voice to the animated shows “Friendship All-Stars of Friendship” for L Studios and “Pillow Fight” for Adult Swim. Jake Regal is an actor and comedian who has been training at UCB since 2006. He currently performs with the Harold Team Cardinal Redbird. He also has been a member of the Harold Team Lincoln's Bedroom, the Maude Team Goodman, and the 1992 Olympic Dream Team. Additional UCB credits include “Noises On!,” “The King of Kong The Musical,” “The Mysterious Affair at Mr. Bendernagle's Luau,” and many other shows with even goofier names. His screen credits include appearances on “Scorpion,” “Growing Up Fisher,” “Ray Donovan,” and “The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.”
