Time Travelers unite at Adventure Science Center’s next adults-only event

Explore time travel across multiple franchises at Way Late Play Date, Feb. 2

Nashville, Tenn., Jan. 26, 2017—Metal bending, hovercraft and… air guitars? At Adventure Science Center, it’s the recipe for the next time travel-themed adults-only Way Late Play Date on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Every few months, the Science Center opens its doors after-hours for an adults-only night of science and fun. Each Way Late Play Date takes attendees on an exploration of the science behind a pop culture theme with exciting hands-on activities and demonstrations.

Tickets cost $35 for not-yet-members, $25 for Adventure Science Center members, and include admission to all exhibits and activities, three beverage tickets (local craft beer, wine and soft drinks), a planetarium show and a souvenir cup. Limited tickets are still available for purchase at www.adventuresci.org/waylate.

EDUCATION ACTIVITIES (included with admission):

  • Metal Bending
Discover what happens to Gallium in the palm of your hand in this Terminator inspired activity
  • Hovercraft Test Bed
Check out an early prototype of Marty McFly’s hovercraft from Back to the Future. Will it actually work?
  • Air Guitar Station
Step into the spotlight for this ‘excellent’ activity inspired by Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure using a Makey Makey kit.
  • The Spandex Universe
Explore how gravity and mass dictate planetary motion in this Doctor Who-themed activity.
  • Time Zone Travel
Learn how blazingly-fast air travel can turn back the clock!
  • Skies Over Nashville
Under the 63-foot Sudekum Planetarium dome, attendees will enjoy traveling at the speed of light through the stars to explore planets and more in this live presentation.

Other activities included with admission include: trivia rounds with Nerdy Talk Trivia, mini-games with The Escape Game Nashville, a costume contest with Hypericon, photo ops with Habitat ReStore of Sumner County’s life-sized TARDIS, and more fun with ConGT, Make Nashville and MTAC.

Food trucks will be onsite with food available for purchase.

The next Way Late Play Date event is planned for Thursday, April 27.

Printing Sponsor: Minuteman Press; Brewery Partners: Mayday Brewery & New Heights Brewing Company.

Program subject to change. Must be 21 or older to attend. Valid photo ID required at the door. All proceeds support Adventure Science Center’s interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences.
