Fourth annual “Nashville Street Food Awards,” October 17
September 24, 2015 – The Nashville Food Truck Association (NFTA) will present the 4th annual “Nashville Street Food Awards,” Saturday, October 17, 12:00-4:00 p.m., at Greer Stadium. The “Nashville Street Food Awards,” which is a free, public, all-ages event, will include more than 25 NFTA members participating in a friendly competition. A panel of judges will sample blind entries from the trucks in a variety of street food categories, with winners named throughout the event.
The “Nashville Street Food Awards” will take place at Greer Stadium, 534 Chestnut Street in Nashville. Attendees will have the opportunity purchase food from all participating trucks, including a variety of their contest entries.
“Food trucks have become a mainstay at festivals and events in Nashville,” said event organizer B.J. Lofback. “We’ve seen exponential growth in both food trucks in business and the need for food trucks at Nashville events over the past five years. However, the Nashville Street Food Awards remains the only event that is all about the trucks. If you are eager to sample food from a great variety of talented chefs across multiple cuisines, this is your event.”
Categories for the “Nashville Street Food Awards” will include a variety of Nashville-inspired and street food standards, including Best Taco, Best Between Bread, Best Smoked, Best Dessert, Best Hot Nashville, Best Vegetarian, Best Deep Fried, and Best Drink. There will be two Nashville brands featured in categories, Best Yazoo and Best Christie Cookie. The judges will score based on appearance, taste, and overall, which will determine the first place winner for each category.
In addition to the food truck fare, attendees will enjoy live music, an assortment of vendors, and activities for children. In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, the NFTA will host a canned food drive on site.
Participating trucks include Bacon Nation, Bao Down, Bradley's Curbside Creamery, Chapmans II, Coco’s Italian Market, Dawg Daze, Deg Thai, Electric Sliders, Grilled Cheeserie, Hoss’ Loaded Burgers, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, Julia's Bakery, Lil Choo Choo BBQ, Maggie Moo’s Mobile, Moovers & Shakers, Music City Brisket, Music City Rice & Roll, Nashville Burrito Co., Riffs Fine Street Food/Funk Seoul Brother, The Rolling Feast, Sehrt Seafood, Smoke Et Al, Smoothie King, Steaming Goat, and Taste of Nature.
