Dippin’ Dots Celebrates National Ice Cream Month with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Official Attempt at Nashville’s July 4th Festivities
Critically Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Ashley Monroe to Headline Record-Setting Team
NASHVILLE/PADUCAH, Ky. – Few things are more American than enjoying creamy, delicious ice cream on a hot summer day, which is why President Ronald Reagan declared July National Ice Cream Month in 1984. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this annual event, Dippin’ Dots, the maker of the iconic flash frozen ice cream and frozen treats, will attempt a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title at Let Freedom Sing! July 4th in Music City in downtown Nashville this Independence Day.
The public is invited to come out and cheer as Warner Music Nashville artist Ashley Monroe headlines a team of five scoopers who will attempt to set a world record for the number of ice cream cups prepared in three minutes. Other scoopers will include Dippin’ Dots founder, CEO and Brentwood resident Curt Jones.
The event will take place at approximately 1:45 p.m. just outside Bridgestone Arena in the free McDonald’s® Family Fun Zone on the corner of Broadway and 5th Avenue in Nashville. A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator will be on hand to verify the results.
“Eating ice cream and celebrating the 4th of July are both cherished American summer traditions,” said Jones, noting that the average American consumes nearly 18 pounds of ice cream each year.
“We are excited to partner with the highly acclaimed Let Freedom Sing! July 4th in Music City to stage our GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record attempt,” said Jones. “We know that the legions of Dippin’ Dots fans in the greater Nashville area will be there in force to cheer us on as we go for the record. We’d also like to thank our friend Ashley Monroe for joining us as part of this special day in Dippin’ Dots history.”
“I am so thrilled to be invited to help Dippin’ Dots break a world record,” said Monroe. “What better way to spend Independence Day than in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, enjoying live music and eating ice cream? I can’t wait!” Ashley Monroe’s debut solo album, “Like a Rose”, was released to massive critical acclaim by USA Today, Associated Press, NPR, The Washington Post, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times among many others. “Like a Rose” was named Rolling Stone’s top country album of 2013.
