COAST Fashion Trade Show Expands to Nashville in October 2015
The inaugural event presents contemporary collections for men and women.
COAST, a trade show for men’s and women’s contemporary fashions and accessories with four annual events in Miami, is pleased to announce its expansion to Nashville in Fall 2015. The inaugural show’s dates are scheduled for October 5-‐6, 2015, at Track One, a warehouse event venue at 1211 4th Avenue South, in the Wedgewood-‐Houston neighborhood near Vanderbilt University.
Having previously organized shows in Chicago and Boston, COAST founder Karen Bennett was attracted to the Southeastern city’s central location that also captures traffic from the Midwest, Southwest and Eastern Seaboard. Nashville has the largest concentration of employment in the music business that attracts a diverse array of music talent, hence its nickname, “Music City, U.S.A.” Home to the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, it is the epicenter of country music. Musicians begat a strong celebrity presence in general that blossomed with new culinary and hospitality talent in Tennessee’s capital. Fashion is part of its booming tourism market.
“Expanding COAST to Tennessee is a great opportunity to host and introduce established designers to a new large region of retailers,” said Bennett, who plans to bring Nashville’s thriving fashion scene it’s first fashion trade exhibition into the fold. “Our open booth format is affordable for local and emerging designers and showrooms to participate.” Designers and multi-‐brand showrooms are expected to represent approximately 200+ collections for men’s and women’s clothing, resortwear, swimwear, activewear and accessories, with a smaller offering for home and gifts.
COAST is collaborating with the Nashville Fashion Alliance, an organized trade association for industry professionals to foster economic development, education, resources and advocacy. The alliance promotes a sustainable, creative environment for Nashville-‐based clothing and accessory brands, as well as outside fashion companies that are seeking to relocate or launch in the city. “We’re thrilled that COAST will be presenting our market’s first professional fashion industry trade show. This show will allow our participating brands to gain access to wholesale buyers from all over the country. With Karen’s expertise, we are optimistic about how we can expand these types of benefits for our members," said Van Tucker -‐ CEO, NFA.
“I read about its Kickstarter campaign and saw a good fit for COAST to be part of Nashville’s growing fashion community. They are so supportive of us,” said Bennett. In addition to the Nashville premiere, Miami shows are slated for August 24-‐25, 2015, and October 26-‐27, 2015. Bennett already presents four shows per year in Miami but plans to reschedule their usual dates in 2016 so one event falls during Miami’s annual swim week in July. Next year’s lineup includes shows in January, March, July and October. “Retailers are ordering closer to season, and today’s business climate calls for greater immediacy and speed to market,” said Bennett, who also chose July to convenience buyers who are attending several trade and fashion shows for Miami swim week. “Whether regional, domestic or international stores, they don’t have to make an extra trip to Miami. They can write all their lines from resortwear to swimwear to clothing collections in one fell swoop. It’s a great way to get an overview of the season and catch up on reorders, too.” The show is located at Mana Wynwood at 318 NW 23rd Street in mainland Miami, COAST’s home base since March. Complimentary shuttles will be provided from Mana Wynwood to trade shows in Miami Beach. COAST further arranges hotel discounts, onsite daytime dining, happy hours, social media services and booth packages. Dates haven’t been confirmed but will coincide with Miami swim week’s many trade and runway shows.
COAST premiered at a boutique hotel in Miami Beach in 2007. The trade show has grown from its initial 30 designers and showrooms to a maximum of 400 exhibitors for men’s and women’s contemporary clothing and accessories in a 140,000-‐square-‐foot venue in Wynwood, a hip warehouse district between downtown Miami and the Miami Design District. COAST hosts four annual events in Miami, and plans to expand to Nashville in Fall 2015. Previous shows have been held in Boston and Chicago. For more information, please visit coastshows.com
