CHEEKWOOD ANNOUNCES DEBUT OF “SONGWRITERS UNDER THE STARS” CONCERT SERIES
NASHVILLE, TN. – Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art announces the debut of Songwriters Under the Stars, a special evening of al fresco music to be held on the historic estate’s Swan Lawn on October 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The outdoor concert series is sponsored by First Tennessee Bank and will feature Music City Hit-Makers, a one-of-a-kind musical experience “where song meets symphony” with Nashville’s hottest songwriters performing their biggest hits set to the sounds of a Symphony.
Against the backdrop of Cheekwood’s gorgeous grounds and gardens, songwriters Brett James, Jessi Alexander and Kyle Jacobs will perform their chart-toppers and other surprises. Frequently described as “the most famous people you’ve never heard of,” the members of this prolific group have penned hits for Lee Brice, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, George Strait, Kelly Clarkson, Wynonna, Reba McIntyre, Celine Dion and many others. The performers will be backed by the Nashville Studio Symphony, a group of Nashville’s elite session musicians that frequently accompany famous musicians in the studio and onstage.
“Songwriters Under the Stars will be a night that could truly only happen in Nashville,” said Hillary Steinwinder, Vice President of Education and Public Programs. “We’re thrilled to host these talented writers and musicians and get an inside look into the creative process behind some of our favorite songs. Hearing live music on the beautiful Swan Lawn with the mansion and gardens as a backdrop makes for a perfect fall evening, and should definitely be on everyone’s Nashville bucket list.”
Visitors and members are welcome to bring short lawn chairs with low backs, blankets, picnics and non-alcoholic refreshments. Beer, wine and spirits will be available for sale during the event.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive as early as 5:30 p.m. to allow plenty of time to experience the beauty of Cheekwood: strolling the grounds, taking in the views, and exploring the Museum of Art, located in the historic Cheek Mansion on the estate. The sculpture exhibition William Edmonson and Friends: Breaking the Mold will be on display in the museum, as well as pieces from the museum’s permanent collection.
Tickets for the event are $30 per person and are available online at Cheekwood.org. More information on the Music City Hitmakers can be found at MusicCityHitmakers.com
