CAVIAR & BANANAS TO OPEN ON JUNE 21 IN AERTSON MIDTOWN
Nashville marks Caviar & Bananas’ fifth location and first outside of South Carolina
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (June 13, 2017) – Caviar & Bananas announced today it will open the doors to its fifth location on June 21 in Nashville’s new Aertson Midtown - the mixed-use destination at 2031 Broadway facing Vanderbilt University. The market and café will occupy over 6,100 square feet and is designed by Powell Studios.
Open seven days a week, Caviar & Bananas will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, small plates, and weekend brunch. Part restaurant, part retail, Caviar & Bananas is a unique concept to Nashville, offering everything from the ordinary to the extraordinary (hence the banana and caviar). Guests can expect a variety of prepared foods made from responsible ingredients, salads and sandwiches made from scratch, housemade pastries and sweets, cheeses, charcuterie, and an espresso, tea, and wine bar with boutique wines and craft beers. The retail selection spans from essential groceries to fun indulgencies and gourmet gift baskets.
For co-founders and owners Margaret & Kris Furniss, Nashville will mark Caviar & Bananas’ largest and first location outside of South Carolina. Since first opening in downtown Charleston in 2008, the Furnisses opened two additional Charleston locations, and a Greenville location last year. “With four successful locations in South Carolina, Margaret and I began looking for other possible cities in the south. Our decision was truly an easy one, based on the growth of Nashville and the vibrancy of its expanding culinary scene, we wanted to be a part of Music City,” said Kris Furniss. “It’s also Margaret’s home state, so this is a special move for us. We’ve assembled a talented team in Nashville and are excited to bring our C&B staples with a Nashville flare. We will be featuring a new wine bar with delicious made to order small plates options that are exclusive to this location.”
The Nashville location’s new, locally-inspired menu items include the Tennessee Trio sandwich (rosemary & citrus cured Porchetta and crispy confit pork belly topped with Sweetwater Valley buttermilk cheddar, a Tennessee whiskey-bacon onion jam, pickled sunchokes and arugula on a ciabatta bun). Kris and Margaret sought out local, inspiring talent, hiring Joseph Denomme as executive chef, Lexi Francisco as executive pastry chef and Jesse Grathoff as general manager. Denomme brings eight years of culinary experience to Caviar & Bananas, previously serving as chef de cuisine at Barlines in the Omni Hotel. Francisco steps into the role of executive pastry chef at Caviar & Bananas, coming from her previous role as pastry chef supervisor at Gaylord Opryland Resort and Grathoff joins the Nashville Caviar & Bananas team from Barlines in Nashville’s Omni Hotel, where he previously worked as general manager.
