Nashville Tourism Website Named Among 25 Best in the World
NCVC Website on List that Includes NYC, LA, London and Australia
Nashville’s website is run by the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp and was praised by Skift, which said, “If you don’t think you like country music or Tennessee, you will after watching The Story of Nashville. The 43-minute film is the best we’ve seen at defining a destination’s spirit and soul, and there’s also a video series describing each of the city’s neighborhoods.”
“Our website is a critical component of every aspect of marketing and selling Music City,” said Beth Seigenthaler Courtney, board chair of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp and president at DVL Seigenthaler. “To be ranked among the best in the world with these other top destinations is further validation of the excellent work of the NCVC on behalf of the city.”
Also named to the Top 25 from the U.S. are the tourism websites in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Finland, London, Ireland, Singapore, Australia and Dubai are among international tourism websites touted.
Skift, which describes itself as the largest industry intelligence platform providing media, insights and marketing to key sectors of travel, prioritized websites with the best user experience overall, especially on mobile; modern modular layouts; seamless navigation and impactful visuals; most nuanced multi-format storytelling; and how the website motivates visitors to visit the destination and use the website for travel research.
VisitMusicCity.com is often a visitor’s first encounter with Nashville and the Music City brand. The site relies heavily on images, focusing on telling the story of Nashville and providing a sense of place. It also arms guests with all the information they need to plan a vacation or a meeting, and the site is responsive so the experience is seamless regardless of device used.
Visitors to the site can book a room, learn about hotel options and find information on Nashville’s attractions, restaurants and events. Content on the site is primarily organized two ways – by neighborhood or category. Information organized by neighborhood allows a visitor to easily see what there is to do within a certain part of town, and includes several videos, as well. The site is also organized by categories: music, arts, food, history and fashion/shopping.
The website had more than 20 million page views and over 6.5 million total visits in Fiscal Year 2015-16.
This accolade is further recognition over the past year of excellence at the NCVC, including being recognized as the Convention and Visitors Bureau of the Year for secondary markets by ConferenceDirect; the top destination marketing organization in North America by members of the National Tour Association; and a Top Ten meeting destination by CVENT.
