January 8, 2018
WHO: Reigning International Bluegrass Music Association Entertainer of the Year, the Earls of Leicester Presented by Jerry Douglas, will bring two evenings of unforgettable music to the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum. These shows will be recorded for a future live album. Their self-titled debut album earned a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2015.
WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: CMA Theater; 224 5th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203
WHAT: The six-man, all-star band includes Jerry Douglas who assembled the bluegrass group in 2013 to pay tribute to the music of guitarist Lester Flatt and banjo player Earl Scruggs and their band, the Foggy Mountain Boys. The group also includes renowned musicians Shawn Camp on lead vocals and guitar, Charlie Cushman on banjo and guitars, Jeff White on vocals and mandolin, Johnny Warren on fiddle and Barry Bales on vocals and bass. Douglas and Bales are also bandmates in Alison Krauss + Union Station. Warren’s father, Paul, was a longtime member of the Foggy Mountain Boys.
“This two night stand in the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a celebration for the Earls of Leicester the same as when Flatt and Scruggs played Vanderbilt University and Carnegie Hall rolled into one,” said Douglas. “We will be debuting new songs to our repertoire and rolling out a few surprises as we videotape and record the culmination of five years of work in our mission to re-educate, and in many cases, reveal this body of work for the first time.”
