Third Annual Lights Festival to Feature New Nighttime Santa Appearances
NASHVILLE, TN. – Tickets to Cheekwood’s Holiday LIGHTS are officially on sale. Featuring one million lights, the carefully-planned course is one mile in length, offering lights and decorations designed to appeal to all ages. The popular wintertime program attracted more than 45,000 visitors to Cheekwood in 2016.
“With one million lights, this year’s display is sure to dazzle our visitors,” said Peter Grimaldi, vice president of gardens for Cheekwood. “Our team has worked tirelessly to prepare a lights experience designed specifically to complement Cheekwood’s landscape, and with the addition of nighttime Santa appearances, we’re especially excited to share this year’s program with guests from near and far.”
In its third year, Cheekwood will introduce new elements to Holiday LIGHTS, including evening do-it-yourself photo opportunities with Santa every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday leading up to Christmas. Additionally, guests can sign up for evening gingerbread workshops featuring gingerbread by Crumb de la Crumb Bakery and seasonal cocktails, and reserve Holiday Tea Times in the Pineapple Room on Thursdays and Fridays at 2 p.m.
In addition to new programming, crowd favorites like real reindeer will be returning to Holiday LIGHTS, as well as s’mores pits, festive cocktails and nightly performances from holiday carolers in the loggia of the newly restored Cheekwood Mansion. Cheekwood’s Pineapple Room restaurant will also offer nightly dinner service from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Installation of Holiday LIGHTS began in August, as the botanical garden and museum continues to transform into a festive wonderland. Decorations will extend from the mansion out into the gardens, setting the grounds aglow with elegant displays, dazzling views and gleaming lights.
Tickets to Holiday LIGHTS can be purchased online at www.cheekwood.org or upon arrival. Holiday LIGHTS opens Friday, November 24, and runs Tuesday - Sunday through December 31.
Holiday LIGHTS is co-presented by Jackson National Life Insurance Company and Regions Bank, sponsored by Outdoor Lighting Perspectives and made possible by the AWC Family Foundation with additional support from The Frist Foundation and The Memorial Foundation.
