Backfield in Motion is a non-profit organization that focuses on education through mastery of literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth that leads to a high school diploma, a foundation for higher education, and the on-job skills needed to enter the world of work, while using athletics as an incentive for academic improvement. We believe that every student deserves an opportunity to be successful, regardless of their current environment; to be well-educated, prepared for the challenges of the real world, and treated with the love and respect they deserve. We believe our students should be celebrated for their potential and the contribution to the quality of life they bring to everyone they meet. All students, even those in at-risk neighborhoods and non-traditional home situations, deserve the chance to be well-educated and empowered to meet the increased changes for success in an ever-changing world. ​We celebrate all individuals who give their time, knowledge, monetary donations, and their good work to help our students. We know that each contributor is unique with different facilities and resources, but we believe that individuals, foundations, and businesses share our belief that at-risk students should be provided a way to have access to the same kinds of opportunities that are available to those in more affluent neighborhoods.
