LIVE ON THE GREEN PUBLIC SQUARE PLAZA THURSDAYS, SEPTEMBER 3-OCTOBER 8, 2009
LiveOntheGreen is a new concert series every Thursday night in downtown Music City. The event highlights local acts along with national artists with a connection to Nashville. Not only is this a venue to bring community and music together, but to display, utilize and encourage environmentally-friendly practices at the same time.
- The location of the event, the Public Square Plaza, is actually a 2.25 acre green roof that sits on top of a 5-level underground parking garage. The structure incorporates a 57,000-gallon rainwater collection system that's used to irrigate the green roof throughout the year.
- Event vendors are selling beer in recyclable aluminum cans and are not selling plastic bottled sodas.
- Recycling centers are be located around the event for aluminum cans, plastic cups and paper products.
- Reusable Swig Swag mugs are sold, encouraging concertgoers to bring them back to each event for a discount refill.
- Metro Water is offering filtered tap water, reducing the need for plastic water bottles.
- Leftover and uncooked food will be taken back to their respective restaurants to be reused or composted.
- A free bike check is offered.
- All merchandise for sale is made from eco-friendly materials and inks.
