JOHN MERRITT CLASSIC WEEKEND LP FIELD SEPTEMBER 2-4 Book your hotel room for the weekend here. The annual John A. Merritt Classic weekend takes place over Labor Day Weekend in Music City. Named for one of Tennessee's most successful football coaches, the John Merritt Classic activities also serve as a fundraising weekend for scholarships and other related needs for Tennessee State University students. The weekend hosts many events including a mixer, an old school concert, 5K Walk/Run, tailgate parties, band showcase and, of course, the football game. Tennessee State University will play Southern University at LP Field on Saturday, September 3. The game includes the always exciting Battle of the Bands halftime show. Tickets are now available.
