FUN FAMILY ACTIVITIES YOU CAN ONLY DO IN NASHVILLE
Nashville is truly a magical place to visit during the coldest months of the year. Tour the grounds of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, go indoor ice skating, or attend performances of the Nashville Ballet's Salsa Dreams. There are plenty of winter activities for your family to enjoy!

Check out the Tennessee State Capital building where the Tennessee State Museum resides. The museum features wonderful and informative exhibits about Tennessee's history from prehistoric times, the Civil War, Antebellum to the New South in addition to other traveling exhibitions.
Be musical at the Country Music Hall of Fame Musical Petting Zoo, offering young musicians the chance to try new and familiar instruments. Other free family programs include a Country Dance Workshop, Costume Design with Katy K and making letterpress art with Hatch Show Print. Explore current exhibits such as Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music and Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player. Be serenaded by the Nashville Symphony with several performances of all types of music at the newly reopened Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Be transported to another time with visits to Nashville's historic sites. Stroll around Belle Meade Plantation's grounds and see the house behind the Thoroughbred horse legacy. Tour around Belmont Mansion, the home of the famous Adelicia Acklen or the Carnton Plantation, the house in the book Widow of the South. Pay a call to the Overton Family at Travellers Rest and join in on fun activities. See the renovations of The Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson and his family, with special exhibits and activities.
Stop by the Visitor Information Center in the glass tower of the Bridgestone Arena in the heart of downtown and browse through the unique music themed gifts or even shop online. Feel like a music star and take a photo of your family on the Center's stage. There are also a ton of great parks, shopping centers and movie theaters around town. Introduce your little ones to the traditions of the Grand Ole Opry with performances every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Take the whole family ice skating or try a little indoor/outdoor rock climbing with Team Green Adventures. Head to the recently reopened Dave & Buster's at Opry Mills for hours of fun with dinner, games, and prizes!
The performing arts community in Nashville wants to add something fun to your visit too. Founded in 1931, Nashville Children’s Theatre provides a series of plays for kids and families by professional adult actors and has year-round drama workshops for youth. The recently renovated theater was ranked as one of the top five children’s theaters in the U.S. by TIME magazine. Catch the Nashville Ballet at TPAC.

Saturday Kid Shows at the Belcourt Theatre Every Saturday at 10AM through May Visit the historic Belcourt Theatre every weekend to catch a live performance, family classic film, or something new on a rotating schedule that's guaranteed to entertain the whole family. Stop by the music-themed Visitor Information Center in downtown Music City (in the glass tower of the Bridgestone Arena) where you can shop for souvenirs, get free maps and one-on-one assistance. Looking for some more fun? Go to the Adventure Science Center. Along with its year-round exhibits, the Center offers the Little Lab program that invites children (ages 3-5) to participate in age-appropriate lab activities, crafts and more. Check out Laser Holidays shows, the new National Geographic film Seamonsters or join in on a Star Party at Edwin Warner Park.
Develop your artistic skills at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts with the Kids Club program, a program designed for 5 to 10 year olds to help them discover their inner artist. Due to a limited number of spaces, please call ahead to reserve a spot. Also, check out the Martin ArtQuest Gallery for all ages to enjoy. Admission is FREE for children under the age of 18.
Find a comfy seat at a Nashville Public Library for the interactive Be Part of Our Story! documentary, film and art showings and a weekly story time. The Library is also having biweekly puppet show performances perfect for all ages and it's free! Learn a little skill in the kitchen with your little one at the Young Chefs Academy. Discover the fun of cooking and baking in family friendly classes.

Visit Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art to tour the grounds and view their Visions of the American West exhibition. Head over to the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere to see your animal friends in replicas of their natural habitats! Get creative at the Zoo with two new art classes called Arts for Life (ages 6 and up) and Sketch Safari (ages 13 and up), using live animal models to teach kids the basics of art.
