Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon
April 26, 2014
Through the streets of Music City
On April 26, more than 30,000 runners, walkers, wheelchairs, and spectators will attempt the annual Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon through the streets of Music City lined with 28 stages as live bands perform the soundtrack of the day.
Health & Fitness Expo
For two days prior to the race, April 24 & 25, the free Health & Fitness Expo will take over the Music City Center. The Expo is open to the public but it's also where marathoners pick up their race number, swag bag, and t-shirt. More than 80 exhibitors will be onsite offering free samples, showcasing running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information, and more. Check out the Expo details.
Marathon & 1/2 Marathon
At 6:45am on Saturday, April 26, the first steps of the race are taken by participants in the 2.6-mile Mini-Marathon. And just 15 minutes later, at 7am, wheelchairs, runners, and walkers start the 26.2-mile Marathon and 13.1-mile 1/2 Marathon trek through Music City. Routes take participants from Lower Broadway to LP Field, through Nashville neighborhoods like 12South, East Nashville, and Downtown, passing by landmarks such as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, TN State Capitol, Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Bicentennial Mall, Shelby Park, and more. All along the way, cheer squads line the streets to encourage racers. And to keep up the pace, live bands play on stages throughout the course, sending out music of every beat, from jazz and blues, to rock and country. Register to run the marathon.
All finishers get an Official Race T-Shirt, Goodie Bag, Finisher's Medal and ticket to the Post-Race Concert that night.
After runners have rested their weary legs and participants have quieted their cheers, everyone is invited to the Saturday Night Concert with one of country music's biggest acts on April 26! Stay tuned for the headliner announcement. Past headliners include Craig Morgan, Rodney Atkins, Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Billy Currington, Phil Vassar, Martina McBride, John Rich, and Montgomery Gentry. All marathon, 1/2 marathon, mini and kids participants will gain free entry with their race number, but you don't have to be a runner to go the show - the Post-Race Concert is open for marathon participants, friends, family, and music fans. Purchase additional tickets to the concert.
Kids Rock Nashville
That's not all! Kids want to run, too. The Kids Rock Nashville starts at 2pm on Sunday, April 27, 2014. It's a non-timed, non-competitive event for children in grades K-7, so they can get involved with the marathon excitement and run with kids their own size. Get more information on Kids Rock Nashville.
Want to be a part of the festivities, but not up to running? They have nearly 1,800 positions available for set-up, check-in, greeters, refreshments, medals, shuttle pick-up, water stations, timers, medical personnel, and more. Volunteer for the event.
