Light: Bruce Munro at Cheekwood
May 24-November 10
Cheekwood is hosting the second-ever North American exhibition of Light by acclaimed British artist Bruce Munro. The already beautiful gardens at Cheekwood will be transformed into a stunning lighted landscape. Using a variety of materials and hundreds of miles of glowing optic fiber, Bruce Munro designs his installation specifically for Cheekwood, incorporating the property's hills, views, and gardens.
The center of the exhibition is Field of Light, a feature of 20,000 lighted glass spheres, each rising from the ground on a slender stem. This is the largest Field of Light Munro has ever created in a rolling landscape offering visitors pathways to walk amongst the lights. Guests can also view hundreds of white Fireflies, a 5-foot Blue Moon, green urchins, a Light Shower, Bell Drop Chandelier, and Water-Towers, a sight and sound experience.
Cheekwood will offer extended hours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings until 11pm so visitors can experience this glowing wonderland under the night sky. Guests will also be able to experience Light at Cheekwood on Tuesday nights October 15 and 29. As a grand finale for its popular LIGHT installation by British artist Bruce Munro, Cheekwood will be open until 11pm every night beginning Sunday, November 3 until the exhibition’s closing night on November 10.
Each Friday during the exhibition run, guests can also enjoy live music throughout the displays, specialty cocktails, and dining in the Pineapple Room for First Tennessee Fridays.
