  • The January issue of Southern Living features the Reader's Choice Awards. Nashville's awards include:

  • In 2008, The Today Show on NBC named Nashville one of the five friendliest cities in America.
  • Richard Florida’s 2008 book Who’s Your City? How the Creative Economy is Making Where to Live the Most Important Decision of Your Life describes Nashville as “home to much of the world’s best studio talent and has eclipsed even New York and Los Angeles as the place for music writing, recording and publishing.”
  • Fortune Small Business magazine ranked Nashville as one of the Top 100 places to live and launch a business in 2008.
  • Relocate-America named Nashville as one of the Top 100 places to live in 2008.
  • Nashville ranked 22nd in AmericanStyle magazine’s annual Top 25 Arts Destinations reader poll.
  • Forbes magazine ranked Nashville as the No. 15 best city for business and careers based on job and income growth, as well as the No. 14 best city in migration trends for jobs in 2008.
  • In January 2008, www.bizjournals.com ranked Nashville as the the No. 3 best city in terms of cultural amenities behind New York City and San Francisco.
  • MSN.com included the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in its Top 10 list of the “World’s Wildest Architecture” in June 2008.
  • Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Grimey’s New & Preloved Music earned a spot on Paste Magazine’s “Coolest Record Stores in America” in 2008.
  • Nashville’s 4th of July Celebration was ranked in the Top 11 places in the U.S. and granted the title of “The Most Musical Boom” by AOL City Guide in June, 2007.
  • National Geographic Adventure magazine has chosen Nashville as one of the Top 50 adventure towns in the U.S. for 2007. The top adventure towns are selected by meeting above average standards in five categories: Wilderness, Small Town, Mountain, Waterfront, and City.
  • In 2007, U.S. News & World Report ranked the country’s 100 Busiest Airports (based on the most on-time flights and least crowded planes). Nashville was reported to be the 7th Least Miserable Airport.
  • In 2007, ByWays magazine named Nashville No. 4 in the Top 10 destinations for motorcoach travel. Tennessee was named No. 4 out of the Top 10 motorcoach states. Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry was No. 2 in the “man-made” attractions category, behind Disney World.
  • The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau was granted the “Award of Excellence” by Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine in 2007.
  • Nashville was tapped No. 2 on the list of “Best Places for Relocating Families,” by Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation. The 2007 report focused on “the ease with which a family can move to a city and the ease of settling into a new life there.”
  • In 2007, Priceline.com named Nashville one of the Top 25 destinations in the world to ring in the New Year.
  • In 2007, MSN City Guides named Legends Corner one of the Top 10 Best Music Venues in America.
  • For the second consecutive year, the Mobil Travel Guide bestowed upon The Hermitage Hotel its coveted Five Star Award for 2007, making it the only hotel in Tennessee to hold the distinction.
  • BusinessWeek.com and Sperling’s Best Places named Nashville one of the best places for artists in the United States in 2007.
  • Nashville was ranked one of the Top 5 “friendliest cities in America” according to Travel + Leisure magazine.
  • Nashville was ranked No. 5 in Black Enterprise magazine’s “Top 10 best cities for African Americans” in 2007.
  • In 2007, Bizjournals ranked Nashville No. 8 in the U.S. for per-capita income.
  • In 2007, Forbes magazine ranked Nashville 9th in terms of “Best Places for Business and Careers.”
  • Nashville ranked as the No. 7 fastest-growing wine regions in the U.S. in 2007 according to Orbitz Food & Wine Index.
  • For the third year in a row, Nashville was highest-ranked of the “hottest cities to relocate [or] expand your business” by Expansion Management magazine, February 2007.
  • In 2007, Sporting News ranked Nashville No. 16 among “Top Sports Towns in the U.S.”
  • Policom has ranked Nashville in the Top 5 “Economically Strong” cities in 2006 and 2007 based on long-term tendency to grow in size and quality.
  • In 2006, Nashville won the honor of Top City Visited in the Past Year by the American Bus Association’s annual “Best and the Rest” survey.
  • Nashville was rated the No. 1 “Best City for Relocating Singles,” according to Worldwide ERC & Primacy Relocation’s October 2006 report.
  • Nashville is the No. 1 “Smart Place to Live,” said Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine in their May 2006 cover story. “[Our top pick offers] Southern hospitality. Gently rolling hills with big, affordable homes. A mild climate…and a phenomenal entertainment scene that goes far beyond country…With such an appetizing mix, it’s easy to see why Nashville keeps attracting people from across the nation.”
  • CNNMoney.com ranked Nashville among America’s “Brainiest Cities” based on highest concentration of college degrees in 2006.
  • Esquire magazine rated Robert’s Western World among “Best Bars in America” in June 2006 issue.
  • Nashville placed No. 7 among metropolitan areas on Forbes.com’s “Best Places for Business and Careers” 2006 list.
  • Byways magazine’s annual edition of the “Top 50 Motorcoach Destinations of 2005” named Nashville the fourth best motorcoach destination in the nation, ahead of cities like New Orleans, Orlando and Atlanta.
  • The American Bus Association selected the CMA Music Festival (formerly Fan Fair) one of the Top 100 events of 2005 in the U.S.
  • In 2006, Entrepreneur magazine ranked Nashville No. 6 among “Hot Cities for Entrepreneurs” based on entrepreneurial activity index.

  • The AAA Midwest Auto Club listed Nashville second in the Top 100 destinations in the country as ranked by the number of Triptiks issued, ahead of cities like Las Vegas, Phoenix, New Orleans and Atlanta.
  • Nashville is the “Number One City for Corporate Headquarters.” Business Facilities magazine, June 2005.
  • Nashville is one of the Top 10 “Entrepreneurial Hot Cities.” Entrepreneur magazine, 2005.
  • Upon receiving its 12th Gold Service Award from Meetings & Conventions magazine, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau was inducted to the M&C Gold Awards Hall of Fame in 2005. The Nashville CVB also won a 2005 Award of Excellence from Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine.
  • Bar Twenty3 was named to the 2005 list of Top 100 Clubs by the editors of Nightclub & Bar.
