CHEEKWOOD OFFERS FREE ADMISSION TO MILITARY PERSONNEL
Military Members and Families Receive Free Entry and Parking on July 3
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cheekwood will offer free admission and parking to military personnel and their families on Sunday, July 3 as part of its Independence Day weekend celebrations.
Active military personnel, military veterans and their immediate families will be eligible for the free admission. To receive the free admission, guests must present a military ID, veteran organization ID, discharge papers or other official military identification. Dependents must be accompanied by an active duty military personnel or veteran to receive the discounted admission.
This summer, Cheekwood is featuring weekly programs and activities, including four exhibitions: International Playhouses, Steve Tobin: Southern Roots, American Artists at Home and Abroad and Japanese sculptor Kensuke Yamada, the 2016 Martin Shallenberger Artist-in-Residence. Cheekwood is also offering free guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays, including Saturday family tours of International Playhouses.
The guided tour schedule on July 3 is:
Botanical Garden & Arboretum Tour
11:30 a.m. – Tour departs from Visitor Services
Take a walk among Cheekwood’s unique botanical gardens and level IV arboretum, including colorful seasonal gardens, historic plant and tree collections and a nationally accredited dogwood collection.
House & History Tour
12:30 p.m. – Tour departs from Museum of Art
Learn about the design and construction of the mansion and grounds in the early 20th century and explore Cheekwood’s place in the American Country Place Estate Era.
Exhibition Tour – American Artists at Home & Abroad
1:30 p.m. – Tour departs from Museum of Art
Explore selections from the Cheekwood permanent collection and hear the story of American Artists who have journeyed across the world, experiencing and drawing influence from cultures near and far.
