Nashville's 2016 New Year's Eve Fun Facts
- Six Bands.
Nashville’s New Year’s Eve concert will be headlined by GRAMMY-winner Keith Urban and joined by a diverse lineup that includes rock band Styx of “Come Sail Away” fame, indie-progressive band Moon Taxi, country acts A Thousand Horses and Charlie Worsham, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers®. Sirius|XM host Storme Warren will serve as emcee.
- Trending Destination.
Kayak.com has ranked Nashville’s New Year’s Eve as the third hottest trending destination. The Top Ten list included international cities seeing the biggest increase in flight searches for New Year's travel: 1. Reykjavik, Iceland 2. Sydney, Australia 3. Nashville 4. Auckland, New Zealand 5. San Salvador, El Salvador 6. Dublin, Ireland 7. Amsterdam 8. Lima, Peru 9. Guadalajara, Mexico 10. Minneapolis. The website’s “Hacker Tip” said: “The Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight … ends with the Music Note Drop, fireworks display and at least a few hangovers.”
- Music Note Drop®.
Nashville's Music City Midnight is the ONLY place you can ring in to the New Year with the drop of a 15-foot-tall red music note, covered in 150 feet of LED lights, from a 145-foot structure into a measure bar and music notes coated in 20 pounds of red glitter and 30 pounds of silver glitter.
- Lots of Bulbs.
• The 2017 sign includes 425 light bulbs. It was designed and constructed by MadeFirst, a local design and fabrication company.
- Biodegradable Confetti.
Fifty pounds of confetti will shower down on revelers at the stroke of midnight. The rice paper confetti will be cleaned up immediately after the event concludes. Any confetti that is missed during cleanup will dissolve within two rainfalls.
- Fireworks Over the Capitol.
The new event location will showcase the State Capitol during a five-minute fireworks show at the stroke of midnight.
- There's an App for That.
The new Nashville New Year’s Eve app, available in the App Store and Google Play, gives you the most up-to-date information on the event, the music, official merchandise, and everything else Music City Midnight has to offer.
- LED Wristbands
See your wrist light up in sync with the live music. A limited number of wristbands will be distributed at the onsite AT&T FiberSM booth.
- Toast, Boast, and Post!
Each year we take a second during the show and do a thing called the Toast, Boast, and Post. A moment when everyone takes out their phones. Holds them up. Takes a picture. Then posts on social media for all to see.
