Music City Celebrates Black History Month

Visitors have the unique opportunity to learn about Nashville's important role in the civil rights movement, its strong connection to the Harlem Renaissance and its rich musical heritage as part of Black History Month.

Throughout the month of February, the NCVB will be promoting Black History Month through advertising in minority newspapers regionally, conducting multiple web and radio promotions, packaging, PR, and a special XM Satellite Radio show.

We are also celebrating the release of the tenth anniversary edition of The African American Guide to Nashville. The 88-page tour guide published by Kinnard & Associates and supported by the NCVB celebrates the contributions and achievements African Americans have made to Music City.

For additional information regarding the exciting events planned in celebration of Black History Month, please visit www.visitmusiccity.com/visitors/blackhistorymonth or call 800-657-6910.

Music City Travelocity
Nashville and its marketing partner, Travelocity, have teamed up for two great promotions in February, each of which are designed to publicize the city's great hotel and event packages available this winter. An online advertisement will target visitors searching key competitor cities and an advertisement in Travelocity's Real Deals e-newsletter will reach approximately 4 million subscribers.

Nashville for a Song Program Kicks Off
The NCVB has launched Nashville for a Song, a new winter program to promote hotel deals to a visitor database of nearly 200,000 during historically slow business periods. Hotel members have been invited to participate by providing aggressive rates during February and March.

Hotel packages are then built by the NCVB (where hotel rates are opaque to the visitor) and promoted through website features, regional advertising, bi-monthly email blasts and press releases to key outlets and online travel sites. Hotels can add new dates & update rates throughout the program to maximize the opportunity for reservations.

If you are interested in participating in this new program, please contact Samantha Hunt, samantha@visitmusiccity.com.

As the next step in our efforts to promote the Live Music Venue program, the NCVB has created a new collateral piece. In addition to the signature guitar pick street sign, we now have a new four-color brochure highlighting venues and other businesses that proudly display a Live Music Venue sign. The brochures will be distributed in visitor and convention packets as well as in our Visitor Information Centers.

The next addition to the Live Music Venue program will be the creation of an exclusive page on our website to showcase our venues. Currently, you can find a list of Live Music Venues at www.visitmusiccity.com/music/musicvenues.

If you offer live music, then make sure Music City visitors know about it! Learn how you can become a Live Music Venue. Call Allie Hardee at 615-259-4734 or email her at allie@visitmusiccity.com to order your guitar pick sign today.
