Nashville to Observe Anniversary of May 2010 Flood
Join Mayor Karl Dean and community leaders Monday, May 2 at 11 a.m. on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge for a ceremony to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the May 2010 flood.

The event, Voices Rising: Remembering One Year Later, will include performances by musicians with the Nashville Symphony and other well-known Nashville artists soon to be announced. Attendees will have an opportunity to share their flood stories with the Nashville Public Library for the Nashville Flood Digital History Project, and also get a first look at a traveling flood exhibit that will be on display this summer at community centers and other locations throughout Davidson County.

Opry Mills to Reopen in Spring 2012
Opry Mills announced yesterday it will reopen and once again greet shoppers in 2012. The shopping destination, which will employ 3,000 people and bring in $26 million in sales tax revenue, plans to begin rebuilding immediately.

A majority of the previous tenants have committed to reopening, including OFF 5TH Saks Fifth Avenue, Regal Cinemas Opry Mills Stadium 20 & IMAX, Dave & Buster's, Rainforest Cafe, Aquarium Restaurant, Off Broadway Shoes, Banana Republic Factory Store, J.Crew Factory, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Ann Taylor Factory Store, Victoria's Secret, Tommy Hilfiger Company Store, and a greatly expanded Forever 21. Bass Pro Shops has already reopened.

New stores will include: Coach Factory Store, Calvin Klein, Tommy Bahama Outlet, Talbots, Chico's, White House Black Market, Under Armour Factory House, and The LEGO Store.

NCVB Launches Discounts & Deals Program
The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) has launched a new Discounts & Deals program to give NCVB members the opportunity to provide special offers to visitors, convention attendees and other members.

The new program, available at no cost to NCVB members, allows each member to submit the offer of their choosing and change it as often as needed. The NCVB will promote the Discounts & Deals program on visitmusiccity.com, via social media sites including Facebook and Twitter, and in both Nashville Visitor Information Centers.

New Information Kiosk Debuts at Nashville Visitor Information Center
Nashville's Visitor Information Center, located inside the Bridgestone Arena, has a new, self-service kiosk which allows guests to search for information on local events and concerts, find hotels and restaurants, and print out area maps and coupons.

The kiosk, provided by NowPlayingNashville.com, draws from their database of information, to give visitors up-to-date information on local happenings.

This is the second location for a kiosk of its kind in Nashville. NowPlayingNashville.com also operates kioks at the Nashville International Airport.

Industry Indicators
The February 2011 hotel occupancy rate was 57.3 percent, an increase of 5 percent compared to February 2010.

The 2011 year-to-date occupancy rate is 52.2 percent, an increase of 5.9 percent compared to 2010.

January 2011 hotel tax collections were $1,572,321, an increase of 8.4 percent compared to January 2010.
