Record Performance Figures Display Nashville’s Strength as Destination City
The month of October marked the highest number of hotel rooms sold in one month in the city’s history, according to Smith Travel Research (STR). In addition, the occupancy tax, a key performance measure for the hospitality industry, experienced nearly 20 percent growth during the first quarter of FY 13-14. Nashville sold 603,087 hotel room nights during the October, breaking the record for the highest number of rooms sold in one month in the city’s history. Among the Top 25 Markets for October, Nashville had the largest increases in rooms sold, occupancy, hotel revenue and supply. Nashville saw the second largest increase in Revenue Per Available Room (revPAR) and the fifth largest increase in Average Daily Rate (ADR). September tax collections were $3,462,726, an increase of 19.68% over September 2012. Tax collections year-to-date are $10,304,185, an increase of 19.69% over year-to-date in 2012. Since December 2010, Nashville’s hotel occupancy tax collections have experienced 34 consecutive months of growth.

New Year’s Eve "Bash on Broadway" Expands, Offers Multiple Days of Entertainment Options for Visitors
Indie rock group Kopecky Family Band and singer/songwriting duo Striking Matches will join the New Year’s Eve ‘Bash on Broadway’ lineup headlined by Grammy award-winning country singer/songwriter Hank Williams Jr. As previously announced, the evening will also feature performances by country up-and-comer Brett Eldredge and Southern rock group Blackberry Smoke. Nashville’s signature event has expanded to include free live music on Monday, Dec. 30, with Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl pre-game and post-game concerts. Nashville vocalist Jason Eskridge will perform at the Pre-Game Concert while country trio The Shuggah Pies will perform at the Post-Game Concert, both taking place at the New Year’s Eve stage on Lower Broadway near 1st Avenue. Owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, Hatch Show Print® has been showcasing performers of all types of music and the arts since 1879 and is one of the nation’s oldest working letterpress poster shops. Hatch has created original art for circuses, Grand Ole Opry stars, concerts, and sporting events. Today Hatch continues to produce restrikes of classic posters in addition to creating new work enjoyed by music fans, graphic designers, and art critics worldwide. Recently the shop moved into a custom-designed space within the expanded Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, allowing for an expanded production area and retail space. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows allow visitors to watch the designers lay out type and print posters on the letterpress. We applaud this month’s Brand Champion, Hatch Show Print®, for embracing and showcasing Nashville’s music brand for more than a century!

October 2013 hotel data for Davidson County

  • Demand (rooms sold) increased 9.4% over October 2012. This is a record-breaking month in terms of rooms sold: it’s the first time we’ve sold more than 600,000 room nights.
  • Occupancy increased 4.7% over the previous year
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) increased 8.8% over the previous year
  • Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) increased 13.9% over the previous year
  • Hotel Revenue increased 19.0% over the previous year
  • Supply increased 4.5% over the previous year
Among the Top 25 Markets, Nashville had the largest increases in rooms sold, occupancy, hotel revenue, and supply. Nashville saw the second largest increase in revPAR, and the fifth largest increase in ADR.

A Nashville-based design and apparel company, DCXV Industries creates and hand-prints uniquely Nashville products right here in Music City. As the creator of the I BELIEVE IN NASHVILLE design, DCXV (DCXV is '615' in Roman numerals) specializes in shirts, outerwear, accessories and prints. Many of the company’s products are imprinted with depictions of iconic Nashville images, including the city skyline, the 5 Points intersection in East Nashville, Bobbie’s Dairy Dip, Grimey’s record store and more. Over the course of the last year and a half, DCXV's designs have been featured in publications from GQ to Native Magazine, and has led to working with or having its work shared by entities such as ABC, Matador Records, and Warby Parker. For now, DCXV's goal is to continue representing and sharing the Nashville "lifestyle", one design at a time.
