Sheryl Crow to Headline Music City Center Grand Opening Concert
Grammy-winning artist and Nashville resident Sheryl Crow will headline the Music City Center grand opening and free outdoor concert on Monday, May 20. Festivities are open to the public during the two-day celebration taking place on Sunday, May 19 and Monday, May 20. The Monday, May 20 concert will highlight the multiple genres of music represented in Nashville, including pop, gospel, country and bluegrass. The concert will feature performances by The Time Jumpers, the Grammy-nominated bluegrass act featuring Vince Gill; Grammy-nominated Fisk Jubilee Singers; and recent Grammy performer Mikky Ekko, a singer/songwriter who was most recently featured in Rihanna's chart-topping duet "Stay." The concert will take place from 6pm to 9pm on Monday, May 20. The star-studded lineup will be followed by a fireworks display produced by Pyro Shows. Mayor Dean will present his State of Metro address at the Music City Center at 10am on May 20 as part of the grand opening festivities. A free open house will take place both Sunday and Monday.

Fontanel Hosts Monthly Monday Night Blues Show with Keb' Mo'
Three-time GRAMMY® Award winner Keb' Mo' has chosen to call Fontanel home for the remainder of the year on the first Monday of every month. Fontanel has announced Keb' Mo's Monday Night Blues, an exciting new monthly concert series beginning April 1, 2013. After a "Bring the House Down" benefit concert for the Fisk Jubilee Singers held February 8 at Fontanel's Pepsi Studio Gallery featuring Keb' Mo' & friends (and we should mention here they were friends like Wynonna, Michael McDonald, Amy Grant, and THE FARM), there was no question this event should become a regular part of Fontanel's entertainment offerings. ABC's Hit Drama "Nashville" to be Featured in Spotlight Exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum
The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will unveil a special spotlight exhibition dedicated to ABC's hit television series "Nashville" on April 5. "Nashville": Like a Country Song, which will feature costumes, props and more from the acclaimed drama, will be located within the museum's permanent exhibition on the second floor; the exhibit will run through October 31, 2013. First Saturday Art Crawl
Mark your calendar for the first Saturday of every month! Hosted by The Arts Company, First Saturdays afford guests the opportunity to see new artwork, have conversations with artists, and browse through new and vintage art books - all for free. Art galleries throughout downtown Nashville host free receptions and a shuttle circulates the route. In addition, most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments during the crawl. In addition, Zagat named Nashville a 'Top 7 Up-and-Coming Food City Around the U.S' in an article on March 7. Travel + Leisure said Nashvillians have America's No. 4 most charming accent and ranked Nashville No. 9 among 'The 10 Best U.S. Cities for Pizza'. Food & Wine named Roderick Bailey, chef and owner of The Silly Goose, as The People's Best New Chef in the Southeast. And most recently, Nashville International Airport was ranked No. 6 among the 'Best Airports for Kids' in a study conducted by TravelNerd. The airport was noted for its nurseries, play areas, Redbox and live music.

January tax collections were the largest collections for that month ever, with 2013 collections at $2,113,881, an increase of 21.3%. Despite the fact that January is historically the lowest month of collections, the last three years have seen tremendous increases: 2011: 8.4%, 2012: 10.8%, and 2013: 21.3%.
Nashville's hotel occupancy tax collections have experienced 25 consecutive months of growth.
