July 4th Offers More Music and Fireworks, Fun for the Whole Family
If there's one thing Nashville knows how to do, it's throw a party. This year's July 4th celebration, "Let Freedom Sing," won't disappoint with multiple days of free live music and incredible fireworks July 4th and 5th. The July 4th musical lineup includes local rising duo Striking Matches, GRAMMY®-winning blues musician Keb'Mo', and headliner Republic Nashville's Platinum-selling family trio, The Band Perry. The Grammy®-winning Nashville Symphony Orchestra will choreograph live music with the fireworks show, which is promised to be the largest and longest show in the city's history.

New this year, the celebration will partner with the free weekly summer concert series, Nashville Dancin' presented by Dollar General, to offer more opportunities to see great live music throughout the day. The Derek St Holmes Band, Phoenix Stone, Molly Sue Gonzalez, and The Cultivation will perform at the Nashville Dancin' pre-show stage at Riverfront Park, alternating with the previously-announced musical lineup at the Advance Financial pre-show stage at The Lawn at Riverfront Park, which includes Joey DeGraw, Chris Mulkey and Deluxe and the newly-added group, The Willis Clan. The party continues on July 5th with performances by Ten Out of Tenn, Chris Mulkey and Deluxe and more at The Lawn at Riverfront Park, all culminating in an additional fireworks show.

Music City Welcomes CMA Music Festival Attendees
Nashville rolled out the red carpet to welcome visitors this month for the 42nd Annual CMA Music Festival. The Visitor Information Center, located inside Bridgestone Arena, featured live music by up and coming artists throughout the week. The NCVC booth inside Fan Fair X also stepped up its game, hosting special autograph signings with popular artists. On Friday, June 7, the NCVC hosted a fan club appreciation breakfast for some of Nashville's biggest fans – the Music City Troubadours. The program, which currently has more than 2,200 Troubadour members, was designed to show appreciation to Nashville's loyal visitors and those who love Music City by offering them exclusive deals, insider tips and VIP offers. More than 70 Troubadours were treated to a special performance by songwriter Wynn Varble (written for artists such as Garth Brooks, Darryl Worley, Easton Corbin, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Montgomery Gentry) and enjoyed a catered breakfast from Puckett's Grocery and Restaurant.

The festival set a new attendance record in 2013 with daily attendance topping 80,000 fans, a near 13 percent increase over the 71,000 in attendance in 2012 and a sellout of LP Field tickets six weeks before the event. The record-setting crowds brought in $32 million in direct visitor spending. The increase was attributed to expanding the event into the new Music City Center, which was dubbed the AT&T U-verse Fan Fair X.

Brand Champion
Metropolitan Police Department
This month we salute the Metropolitan Police Department for incorporating the Music City brand into their promotional items and safety awareness programs. While many locals and visitors were enjoying CMA Music Festival, the police department distributed guitar picks with crime tips printed on them in conjunction with their Park Smart program. Park Smart is a reminder to visitors to put their valuables out of sight of would-be thieves, lock their doors and take their keys with them. The police department uses music-themed promotional items such as the picks to help spread simple preventative tips. For this and much more, we name the Metropolitan Police Department this month's brand champion!
