New Development Scheduled to open in 2013 omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/Nashville.aspx Omni Hotel Nashville will operate as the headquarter hotel for Music City Center, Nashville’s new downtown convention center. The $250 million multi-story hotel will feature approximately 800 guest rooms and suites and over 80,000 square feet of meeting and event space and will connect with the expanded Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum. The Omni Nashville Hotel’s design and décor, culinary, lifestyle and retail venues will stem from and become reflective of Nashville. The hotel is expected to boast several restaurants, bars and lounges, as well as retail space, a pool, fitness center and a Mokara signature spa – all in keeping with the strong cultural persona of Music City. The groundbreaking was held in June of 2011 and the hotel will open in late 2013.
Renovation 2800 Opryland Drive Nashville, TN 37214 www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-opryland Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center reopened the 2,881-room hotel on November 15, 2010 following a massive reconstruction and renovation project that took place following major flood damage in May. Although the damage to the hotel was extensive, with approximately 70 percent of the common areas and 100 percent of the subterranean areas under water, the property has reopened with a number of improvements and redesigns to enhance the guest experience. These include the addition of five new restaurants and a wine bar, the redesign for improved comfort and luxury of hundreds of hotel rooms that were untouched by the flood, an upgrade of both the technology and the layout of the lobby area for a better entry experience, and improved meeting rooms and equipment, among other modifications. The company also invested in superior energy efficiency and sustainability in its power generation and HVAC systems, as well as its laundry facilities. New restaurants include Ravello, Solario, Cascades American Cafe, The Falls and Jack Daniel’s Saloon.
Renovation 2401 Music Valley Drive Nashville, TN 37214 www.radisson.com/nashville-hotel-tn-37214/tnnashop The Radisson Hotel at Opryland, owned and operated by Gaylord Hotels, finished its $7 million renovation in June 2011. The renovation features an attractive new contemporary design of the hotel’s 303 guest rooms and its lobby, meeting rooms, banquet areas, guest corridors and indoor pool. New to the property is the Opry Backstage Grill, a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests in the 200-seat restaurant are immersed in an exciting environment featuring servers both performing country favorites on the Backstage Grill stage and sharing details about daily specials prepared using Opry member recipes. Songwriters’ nights, themed brunches, and special group amenities including private meals with country artists will also be offered at the restaurant.
New Development 1800 Division Street Nashville, TN 37203 A new Hilton-brand hotel is set to open its doors in Nashville’s Midtown neighborhood. The 66,000-square-foot Home2Suites will include 119 rooms in seven stories. The hotel will contain several sustainable components such as dual-flush toilets, lobby accent walls produced from recycled materials, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center energy-efficient lighting and high-efficiency windows. Home2Suites will share the parking garage with the current Hilton Garden Inn at Vanderbilt.
www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com The new, state-of-the-art Music City Center (MCC) is currently under construction and will be built out at 1.2 million square feet and feature a 350,000-squarefoot exhibit space with multiple flex space, 90,000 square feet of meeting rooms/breakout space, 57,000-square-foot ballroom with built-in stage and an 18,000-square-foot junior ballroom. In keeping with the city’s commitment to sustainable development, the MCC will boast a green roof and is committed to LEED Silver Certification. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2013.

329 Broadway Nashville, TN 37201 Work is underway to turn the long-vacant Seanachie building in the heart of Nashville’s downtown strip into a honky tonk. Steve Smith, owner of Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, partnered with Hardin Ross of Broadway Brewhouse and Rippy’s to buy the building earlier this year. It is currently in the midst of a $250,000 renovation.
Gray Line Customer Care: 800-251-1864 The new Music City Trolley Hop, operated by Gray Line of Tennessee, travels to 11 locations around town and gives riders the option of either staying on board the trolley for the entire narrated tour, or hopping on or off at various points along the route. The trolley tour operates seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Stops include the Ryman Auditorium, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Bicentennial Park, the Farmers’ Market, Hillsboro Village, Music Row, The Gulch, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Tickets are honored for 24 hours from time of purchase. The tour originates at Gray Line’s downtown ticket office located at the Hard Rock Café on Second Avenue and Broadway downtown.
One Terminal Drive Nashville, TN 37214 615-275-1675 www.flynashville.com Nashville International Airport (BNA) has completed the second phase of its terminal renovation project, which includes the renovation of baggage claim and enlargement of its ticket lobby. The terminal renovation project was the first interior renovation since BNA’s existing terminal was built in 1987. The first phase of the terminal renovation project, began in October 2006 and completed in January 2009, welcomed more than 30 new food and beverage and retail vendors, opened a central passenger security checkpoint, and added concourse skylights and flight information displays. Although Phase II is complete, additional maintenance improvements are forthcoming by the Authority, including escalator replacement and glass and soffit (located on the apron level of the terminal) repairs. The Authority has recently completed the largest construction project in its history, a 1.2-million-square-foot consolidated rental car facility that opened November 1, 2011. The new facility, which is larger than the airport terminal, is located across from the terminal. The creation of this three-level building frees up an additional 600 spaces in the Short Term garage, increasing its capacity by 30 percent. The facility also increases the airport’s rental car capacity to a total of 2,400.

In 2013 it will more than double in size and will connect with the new Omni Nashville Hotel. The expansion will include a beautiful 20,000-square-foot glass-enclosed ballroom with a breathtaking view of the skyline, and an incredible new state-of-the-art 800-seat theater. This remarkable expansion will enhance current spaces that include the 11,000-square-foot Curb Conservatory, the hallowed Hall of Fame Rotunda, and the intimate 213-seat Ford Theatre. The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s current exhibit pays tribute to one of country music’s most versatile and visionary artists, Chet Atkins, with Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player, a biographical Music City Center exhibit running through June 11, 2012 in the Museum’s East Gallery. Opening on March 24, 2012 for a two-year run is the museum’s major new exhibition: The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and California Country. Narrated by Dwight Yoakam, the exhibit will explore the roots, heyday and impact of the Bakersfield Sound, the loud, stripped-down and radioready music most closely identified with the careers of Country Music Hall of Fame members Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.

Nashville’s historic Gulch District, originally the home of the downtown railroad terminal, has developed into a hot spot for young urbanites. The Gulch has perfectly combined its industrial background with modern contemporary style—warehouses, which have been renovated into residential and office space, sit side by side with brand-new mixed use condominiums that also house shops and restaurants—and in 2009, the Gulch became the 13th neighborhood in the world and the first in the South to receive LEED certification. The multi-million dollar program focused on expansion as well as on improving the current facilities. The expansion included a 25,000-square-foot wave pool, a 30,000-square-foot deck and food lounge, and a 1,000-foot-long lazy river. The wave pool is filled with 400,000 gallons of water, creating up to five different types of waves that can reach up to four feet high. Also, visitors can enjoy a relaxing float down the state’s widest lazy river. On hot days, the geysers, waterfalls and sprays are available to cool you off as you float around the park. New in 2011, Kowabunga Beach is a massive water treehouse and sprayground for the entire family. The attraction, which is four stories tall, utilizes thousands of gallons of water in more than 70 interactive features including 4 colorful water slides, a giant bucket that tips hundreds of gallons of water every few minutes, water jets, bridges, tunnels and dozens of other water play elements.
