March 2024—Lane Motor Museum is proud to announce a new major exhibit opening today. The exhibit, Station Wagon Style: Family Movers from Around the World, highlights several examples from the museum’s vehicle collection to help tell the story of the Station Wagon. It runs through March 17, 2025.
Station wagons have played a vital role in the automotive landscape. Originating in Europe and America during the early 20th century, they have progressed from simple transportation to and from railway stations to one of the most iconic family cars in history. This exhibition explores the history of the station wagon and highlights diverse versions from the museum’s collection, both European and American.

The mission of Lane Motor Museum is to collect, preserve, document, and interpret an eclectic and technically interesting collection of cars and other transportation-related objects to educate the public about the history of transportation.
Lane Motor Museum is one of the few museums in the U.S. specializing in European cars. It is a working museum with the goal of maintaining all vehicles and keeping them in running order. Some cars are in showroom condition, while others represent typical aging.
The Museum has been developed in a well-known Nashville landmark, the former Sunbeam Bakery at 702 Murfreesboro Pike.
