JAZZ GREATS TO APPEAR AT BRAND NEW MADAME TUSSAUDS NASHVILLE
Music City’s Incoming Wax Attraction Adds Vocalists Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald and Legendary Trumpeter Louis Armstrong to its Line-up.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 26, 2017) – Madame Tussauds, the world-famous wax attraction, slated to open its newest location in Nashville this spring, today announced the addition of jazz greats Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong to its star-studded line-up.
The figures pay homage to the uniquely American and soulful genre of jazz music, born in New Orleans, over 100 years ago. Each of the artists have left their lasting legacy in today’s music, as their songs transcend time and are still being enjoyed by fans today.
“Lady Day” Billie Holiday, known for the soulful, unique singing voice that turned her into a phenomenon will have a figure in the lounge area of the attraction. Her figure will reflect her signature style from the 1950’s complete with the recreation of a dress she was often seen in throughout her career. Stationed with a vintage mic, the figure’s chic attire is completed with silk gardenias in her hair, a strand of pearls and long, fingerless, silk gloves.
Ella Fitzgerald’s flexible and wide-ranging voice allowed her to sing sultry ballads, sweet jazz and imitate every instrument in an orchestra. Wearing a replica of an off-the-shoulder blue dress she wore in the 1950’s, “The First Lady of Song’s” figure is striking one of Fitzgerald’s popular singing poses, allowing fans to “sing along” with the jazz legend.
Louis Armstrong has influenced countless musicians with his daring trumpet style and unique vocals. “The Jazz Original” 1960’s figure is decked out in a suave black suit accompanied by his favorite Selmer trumpet. Armstrong’s figure captures his iconic smile and the joy that he and his music brought to the room.
Each Madame Tussauds figure is truly a work of art, involving teams of professional artists and sculptors who spend months on extensive research. Artists take more than 300 measurements to recreate world-famous icons that achieve the kind of astonishing realism, which has been at the heart of the 250-year Madame Tussauds legacy.
With a completely different concept, the attraction in Nashville will be the company’s first offering in the U.S. that focuses solely on music icons that have shaped America’s musical landscape. Guests are encouraged to have fun with the famous stars from musical genres such as Country, Rock n Roll, Jazz and Pop.
Additional figures hitting the stage at Madame Tussauds Nashville include Carrie Underwood, Minnie Pearl, Little Jimmy Dickens, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, George Jones, Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Cash.
